It is extremely hot here in SoCal and my truck has been baking under the sun for hours for the first time ever I received a notification on phone that the fans are blowing. I don’t remember the exact wording since the alert disappeared as I unlocked my phone. I thought maybe I turned on the climate control by accident but I checked the app and it was off. Anyone else get a similar notification?

Yes. Usually when the screens are in direct sunlight for an extended period of time. The message states the cooling system is turned on to prevent damage to the screens and electronics.

If it bugs you, invest in a sunshade for the glass roof.

Yes, the fans automatically turn on to protect the screens and computers. Nice feature to have these hot days. ?

Doesn’t bother me. I’ve just never seen that alert before.

I only saw it about a month ago, while my vehicle was in for service. I'm assuming they parked it in the middle of the lot at the body shop and baked it all day every day ?

I’m in Tucson and the temperatures obviously get quite high. I’ve seen the truck report over 140f in the cabin. The fans will regularly turn on to “protect the displays”. My garage isn’t big enough for the truck so it is parked outside all the time. I find that window shades on the windshield are the most important and generally will limit or mostly eliminate the times that the fans will kick on. Shading the roof glass has no effect. The UV protection there is outstanding. I also bought larger shades and put them on the passenger and drivers side to protect against sun on those windows. They do not have tint either.

Nothing new and working as designed. Question comes up every summer, every heat wave.

I've been hearing about this feature forever now.

I have not once seen it activated on my car, even with the interior temperature hitting 131F while parked.

On my Tesla, it would automatically come up at either 95 or 105F interior temp (forgot exactly) and it would activate all the time.

There's no setting that I see on the Rivian configuration, so wondering if the criteria is not related to indicated interior temp at all and rather some sensor in the electronics (screens?).

It activated once on my R1T. The day was in the 90's so not terribly hot, and the sunshade was in place but the cabin still got to something over 120F which was apparently enough to trigger the cooling.

So what does this do to the battery drain? My Tesla sits out for 12 hrs in the sun on my wife’s work shifts- gets to 150+ degrees and doesn’t automatically turn on to protect the screens. These super sensitive screen or something?
