Clunking sound from front end.

The new airbags/struts quieted things a lot. Removed the thump on speed bumps. The only thing I feel is small clunks over surface irregularities (minor) and in pretty certain both gen1s and gen2s have them as this is probably axel play. Today I have heard yet a proper fix for this

RCA-18-24-001-1: Tighten Hub to Knuckle Fasteners

Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some model year 2023-2024 R1T and R1S vehicles.

On these vehicles, the wheel hub to knuckle joint may have been assembled with an updated fastener using a torque value intended for the previously-used fastener.

A fastener torqued to the previously-used lower value may cause an audible noise while driving at low speeds but will not impact vehicle performance.

Rivian will retorque the affected fasteners. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles.

This could be the problem. Only problem I see is that it shows only applicable for the front. The noise I hear is on all four wheels.

I wonder if the washer fix will take care of the rear clunk while the front probably needs both fixes.

I have the clunk noise on all 4 corners when my vehicle is doing a low speed maneuver or moving from two different level surfaces.

I was down at a lodge in the Shenandoah mountains last night and drove back late in the evening. The noise is lessened for me when the temps are cooler.

That’s the sound I have right now when making low speed maneuvers that I want to resolve.

Yup, I have that and I also have a clicking/crunching when there is a lot of up and down suspension travel.

my shaft doesn’t always have a lot of play. The other day when I checked it no up/down play and only minimal in/out but a month ago it had significant in/out and some up/down play as well.

I think it might be impacted by how the wheel is turned. When you start moving the half-shaft probably frees up enough to start clunking.

You would have to think using spacers/washers to remove the gap would solve this for pennies.

Gentlemen, I have my first SC appointment since picking up my truck on May 18, 2024. The soonest I could get an appointment is October 22. Following is the list of items I have to be addressed:
1. Door adjustments: driver side: one door sticks out on the passenger side, one sticks out
2. Cabin wind noise above the driver-side windshield is a marginal annoyance, and I'm not sure they can do anything about it.
3. Passenger side airbag doesn't recognize passenger if they lean back in the chair to nap?
4. AC Compressor vibration RSB-93-24-001
5. Jounce RSB-18-24-001-1 enough sain
6. Suspension sounds like a coffee can full of rocks. I am not sure Half/shafts or dampers
7. RCA-18-24-001-1 Tighten hub knuckle fasteners
8. RCA-78-24-001-1 Replace Interior Audio Amplifier

I have been keeping track of the RSB and RCA notices when they get posted here. I'm not sure if I need a couple of them, but I will have them printed out in a folder for discussion when I report in.

My question is, is there anything I am missing?

I do love the truck!

I went a few miles down a gravel/dirt road yesterday to a trailhead in my one week old gen2 R1S, and stopped several times to shake the front wheels and make sure something wasn't about to fall off. I agree with the coffee can full of rocks description! It was worst and most noticeable at about 5mph when there were just small bumps in the road. I really hope they can take care of it because on the road it's perfectly smooth but on that gravel road it sounded like a beat-up 1980's car.

If you hit washboard areas or multiple bumps at low to medium speeds, my OCD goes into overdrive!

Every single person bringing it in for the noise will speed up a permanent fix. This has to be on Rivian's radar -- especially if Gen 2 has the same problem.

The sound from my attached video is what's being discussed here?

This sound got worse gradually over time and I have 36k miles. I requested an appointment last week but it is scheduled on Dec 4th in Costa Mesa.
