I completely agree! No need to big brother us and tell us we will be unsafe if a video is playing in my peripheral vision for my passenger to watch....

You can already 'cast' YouTube Music while driving... via Bluetooth. Essentially the same thing. You even get transport controls.

Youtube Music isn't included on the Fisker but Youtube is, and you can only use that while in Hollywood mode and parked. I don't see a reason they couldn't have both though, seems like the Music app that can get used all the time would get more use, if Rivian's goal is to sell you a Connect+ sub.

Most states have laws similar to California. Vehicle manufacturers will generally play it safe to avoid lawsuits.

According to California Vehicle Code Section 27602, it’s illegal to drive while using:

• A TV or video screen positioned in front of the driver’s seat or where the driver can see it while driving.
  

Because there’s so many options, though, there are some exceptions to this law. If the screen shows any of the following, it’s considered legal:

• Vehicle information
• GPS coordinates
• Maps or directions
• Front or rear view cameras meant to enhance your vision
  

Further, the law also allows you to use the screen to watch videos, movies, or broadcasts if:

• It has an ignition interlock device installed that goes off once the car is moving
• It doesn’t allow you to watch it while you’re driving your car under normal conditions

Dumb law? Just last week I was in Delaware on Route 1 which is a 4 lane highway with 60-70 mph traffic. A dude started to pass me then just ran along side me for a few hundred yards. I looked at him and he was watching a video on his phone. He was holding it such that I could just see that it was playing video. He was oblivious to what was happening around him. I slowed down and let him continue ahead of me. He stayed in the left lane for 3 - 4 miles, mostly head down watching the video. Ridiculous.

Yep...that is dumb...and Califonia law wouldn't have prevented it from happening. All states make distracted driving illegal so that is all that is needed. You had a distracted driver that was breaking the law regarding distracted driving.

Plenty of people drive drunk or drugged. And it is illegal. But should all vehicles have interlock devices? Or maybe vehicles should be limited in speed to the posted speed limit. I see plenty of people driving insanely fast.

Punish the bad actors....not all of society becuase we have some bad actors....

Perhaps I misunderstand but isn't the idea of watching video while driving the very definition of a distracted driver? Doesn't that make everyone doing it a bad actor? If so, then why should video while driving be available?
