FROM RIVIAN:

Owl together now... ?

By popular request, our latest software update will give Rivian owners three lock sound options: bluebird, owl, or a combo -- daytime bluebird that switches to night owl. ☀??

Love having owl hoot back!!

Owlbviously it was a Hoot having it for Halloween and I’m happy it’s back, the crow was a nice touch as well. Hope it returns, or if we can upload our own sound bite.

I gave a hoot but I really think they need to do bug fixes before new cool features come out….

I am a little frustrated with my R1S, I am averaging a service center appointment every other month. Issues from fender flares falling off the vehicle trim pieces peeling back to the carpeting not staying down and the front floor all wet due to the “firewall plug” not seated properly and the AC equipment soaked the front cabin.

Have you not been paying attention to coverage on this update? It includes bug fixes. The owl is merely a small sliver of this OTA. They know there are bugs and they are actively monitoring and working on improvements, in parallel with new features that are either practical or for fun. You may not be able to chew gum and walk at the same time, but they can.

Furthermore, how many OTAs have Rivian released since deliveries began in late '21? Compared to what Hyundai or Ford have done for their EVs? are they as responsive on improving software and adding value?

If you think you can run a better car company... please do. Start one. Don't forget to ask Fisker how his two attempts went.

I don't see a correlation with the high number of updates and software improvements/adding value. I have received updates that fixed an issue and months later received another that would break it. I have no problem with Rivian throwing in new features, but I, like many other Rivian owners, would prefer that manpower and resources were allocated to fix the issues that many customers are dealing with. I don't need or quite frankly want new features. I just want the features I originally paid for to work.

I owned a '21 mustang Mach E. Over the course of 3 years of ownership I got probably a total of 8 updates. Of those updates one added blue cruise (their driver's assistance).

Summer of 23 they finished the software for a new version of Blue Cruise. But they introduced so many bugs by their updates that they just stopped updating at all. 21 models haven't seen any updates since April of this year, they are full of residual bugs, and also lack the features that were promised over a year ago

This should become the default auto-response for everyone telling Rivian anything.
"Speed up production of R2/R3/R3X" "Cut costs by getting rid of these features" "Why can't I have X feature." "Why does it take so long to manufacture a vehicle you already have prototypes of?" "Why are you having supply chain issues?" "<...Insert uninformed, uneducated entitlement nonsense here from people who haven't studied Engineering, worked in manufacturing, or run a product business of any sort whatsoever>"
