Interesting, and lame. To be fair, owning a Gen1 that didn't have the feature for several months until an update allowed it, if I was to buy a Gen2, i would have assumed the feature to be there by default at this point as well.Yeah, it's unfortunately a known missing feature that supposedly will roll out soon, but feels ridiculous now that it's December, so anyone who bought a Gen2 is left without a basic feature that Tesla's have had for years and was an expectation at purchase. I take my 4y/o primarily in my truck, not ideal to have it freezing when he gets in every day.
This too!We need departure charging! This solves the precondition and other items as you set a time and the car charges to set % at the time you select. I wonder how much wasted energy we are using to maintain battery once its hit set SOC.
Yeah, it's very much a first-world problem lol, I just got used to it with Tesla and very much assumed it would be there. I'll survive, but hoping it happens soon.Interesting, and lame. A hack around the scheduling wall, could be to just turn on your climate control via the app while you're getting your son ready etc 5-10 minutes prior to departing? But I get it, it's much preferred to have that feature be automated.
Show us on this diagram where Carplay touched you!!??Laugh at CarPlay, but google cast is an important feature? I can’t wait for google cast because I can then…. What can I do with google cast again?
I get it, who would want to easily make phone calls, receive and send text, map direction, see traffic updates, listen to audiobooks, all with you voice commands. With out a reply like getting directions to Delhi India, Rivian voice for directions is terrible at best. Rivian ability to play music you want with voice command is non existent. Phone call with voice… lol. No text read, no text send. I get why you
carplay works great. I have had wireless CarPlay in my Ferrari, Porsche, Sprinter, and my Toyotas. You would think if all these brands can support CarPlay, Rivian could do it too. I now have CarPlay in my Rivian. I’m so happy when getting directions I don’t end up in India.
is it the most important ask? No.
I’m excited to see features in the next update. And no I’m not expecting CarPlay.
Also, if you by chance do not know, should you forget to turn on climate control 10-15 minutes in advance to warm the cabin, adding defrost from the app heats the cab in 1-2 minutes. It can get very hot, very quickly.Yeah, it's very much a first-world problem lol, I just got used to it with Tesla and very much assumed it would be there. I'll survive, but hoping it happens soon.
Laughter might have to do with how often/immediately it is raised, and how often it has been unconditionally stated by Rivian's powers that be that CarPlay will not ever happen, full stop.Laugh at CarPlay, but google cast is an important feature? do you have an iPhone? I just played around with the shortcuts app and if you have the “start climate control” action button you can create a shortcut for that and schedule it to start at a certain time of day. I have a gen 1 but I assume you can still turn on climate control from the app, just not add a schedule?Yeah, it's very much a first-world problem lol, I just got used to it with Tesla and very much assumed it would be there. It was a joke. Carplay is 100% not happening.Show us on this diagram where Carplay touched you!!??
Is it possible that they were making a joke about Carplay because every update people ask for it, but we know it is not coming??
You'd have the same amount of vampire drain before the charge starts as you would after. We need departure charging! This solves the precondition and other items as you set a time and the car charges to set % at the time you select. God that cabin temp is cold. Wtf.
Non-freedom temps... I hope!!God that cabin temp is cold. Wtf.
Yes you can start it from the app in my Gen2, so that is just what i'm used to now. Especially if the car is parked outside visiting family i try to remember to go in and start the climate about 15 minutes before we leave. I haven't missed scheduling because i've never had it, and you can still turn on seat heat etc. but i'm also in Huntsville so isn't the coldest of places. It must have something to do with the heat pump, completely different system than what is in Gen 1.
Does Gen 2 allow turning it on from the app? In my Gen 1 when I remote start the heat or AC it only takes a few minutes to get the interior to a decent temp.
