With the Dual Motor vehicles, you only have All Purpose, and the throttle response is very laggy. My Lightning is much more responsive. Hopefully it will be improving that.
My solution has been to drive in "stability reduced" mode. It locks the rear motors on and makes it much nicer to drive. Rivian really needs to offer a fixed AWD mode for dual motor non performance.

I drove a Quad loaner and that thing had zip, it was much more enjoyable. So much so that I'm currently looking to switch to a Gen 1 quad.

As a new R1T owner that has to inch the truck into a tight spot to park, I have to agree with this. There is a bit of a latency, or more pressure needed on the pedal, that makes very fine control a bit of a "rubber-band experience." I know I can get used to it, but the difference between the R1T and the Model X in this regard is very noticeable.

Hope it's something Rivian can change with OTA and that they're working on it.
I've been practice two-foot driving, sometimes it's easier to control speed a bit with the friction brake than try to move your right foot the tiniest fraction.

I’m in the same boat, was really expecting a bit more power, and while it’s not make or break, if it doesn’t get enhanced in an update like this one very soon, I too might trade my gen2 dual for a gen1 quad.

I don't want jumpy throttle on a 835 HP vehicle. That's what you do to make slow cars feel quick. I like the kind of driver my truck makes me.

"I know that I can smoke 99.9% of the vehicles on the road, but I can't be bothered to ?. I am too comfortable ."
All purpose mode will smoke 99.9% of vehicles.

I actually like the motor sound on the dual better than quad. I guess you can get used to anything.

I might be biased, but I think a used Gen1 quad is the best bang for the buck currently in the RIvian ecosystem. It is a blast to drive on a daily basis even though it is slower than my Teslas. Off the line is pretty solid, and I do wish for a bit more in the 60-90 range, but it is good overall.

Knowing what I know now, I'd still go with a Gen1 quad. They are an absolute bargain. You can buy one of those AND a new Tesla Model 3 Highland performance for about the price of a new tri-motor or quad motor and have all your bases covered.

Slower than your Tesla what do you have a Plaid?

Yes, and a Model 3 Highland performance. I think Tesla under promised on the 0-60 time as it is definitely quicker than my Gen1 quad to 60 by a fair margin. Above 60 though it just runs away from it to obviously a much higher top speed. Tesla clearly limits its speed just like Rivian does the R1T.

They need to copy the Tesla throttle mapping. It’s very linear yet still responsive. You can move the car a millimeter at a time if you want.
Just drove a MY for first time. I drove a MS years back. It feels adaptive and great at < 5 mph. However it recalibrates around 10-15 mph and there is a dead zone where nothing happens while I press harder.

What mode was it in? That sounds like chill mode. I never spend anytime there. I am in sport, insane, etc. They fell very dialed in there for my usage. My Y had acceleration boost so it had sport mode as well.

Doing tight parking with my R1T is a royal PITA because of the imprecise throttle or maybe it is the aggressive hold braking feature. Hard to separate the two at <5mph due to the brake hold.
