R2 @ 2025 Detroit Auto Show

Auto show participation is not cheap for manufacturers. Where's this advertising? R3 was never mentioned in the email they sent.

I wish they'd bring them to the DC auto show. Unfortunately our auto show is put on by the Dealership Network; I don't think any car manufacturers are invited unless they're a member of "the old boys club". ?

Still ordered myself a Rivian shirt. Gotta represent somehow. ?

It was on the r2-tour page initially as well. They did "correct" it pretty quick, as I remember pointing out to someone it said R3X was supposed to be there, but upon re-visiting the page, it only said R2 that time. Rivian is gaslighting me.

Today I had a chance to tell the Rivian employee at the auto show to let his boss know that my family is not happy that the R3 was pulled.
His said I wasn't the first one voicing frustration over the missing R3 to him

think the R2 is a great size for most Americans [and Canadians]
It feels about the same size as the Bronco Sport

we drove from Toronto to Detroit to personally see and size-up
the Rivian R2……we both loved it!
I feel it is perfectly sized for a couple, especially for Canadians,
who are not gob-smacked by overtly large SUV’s that the American public loves!

The Rivian R2 WILL replace my 2018 Tesla 3 LR!

You're totally right, perfect for Canadians too. And speaking of gobsmacked, I was gobsmacked by the number of Teslas in Vancouver when I was there last. Holy goodness! Every other car was a Model Y or Model 3. I think the R2 and R3 will be exceptionally popular in BC ... and Quebec ... and Ontario!

My wife and I have 2 reservations (both for R2) and I might be ready to give up my R1T by then. My R1T has been my favorite vehicle of all time, but the R2 might just be perfect for my urban/mountain life here in the PNW where I don't really need all that the truck brings and would enjoy the smaller form factor overall. Can't wait to drive one!

Very disappointed this was not at the Dallas Autoshow this last weekend! would have loved to have seen it to help make my decision for my next car!

I think the size is perfect for the R2 - this will replace my EV6, which is also pretty much the perfect size (and similar) other than the sloping rear hatch that limits cargo space. I'm still planning on getting a nicely equipped RWD R2 with the largest battery pack possible. If I need something bigger, or AWD, or for long trips I have my Telluride for that. This will be the perfect commuter and weekend around town vehicle. Can't wait.

I think Rivian Osborned themselves by showing the R3 and R3X at the R2 reveal. They completely stole the R2’s thunder.

Bummed that it doesn't appear that Rivian will be at the NYC auto show in a couple weeks. Strange considering they have 2 spaces in NYC and one just north in Westchester County.... Or maybe that is why? Still, I'd like to be able to see the R2 in context with competitors.

It would probably be difficult if they haven't fixed their concept version (don't know how it was broken or wrecked but it would probably not be worth the money to fix depending on what the issue was) and they can't release the final version yet until they are ready for an official release. Still wish they had a show in the mid-Atlantic though. They avoided this side of the country completely.
