Unfortunately can't say this is the first time that a new update screwed up the car. Last yr it stopped the charge port from opening. Car had low SOC and had to be towed to Rivian.
And a lot of people here clamoring for the update were not around for the 2023.42 OTA debacle.

Thanks. I get the app will notify me and allow me to remotely start the install. My question is more whether or not the vehicle will wake up and connect to wifi to download the update?

I'm asking because I've noticed that when getting into the car at home, wifi is disconnected. It will connect by itself but it takes a few seconds. When connected, I get full wifi bars since the router is literally a few feet from my R1T so it's not a signal weakness issue. LTE is connected though but only has one bar in my garage.
Maybe related to you or not, but an interesting thing I’ve noticed for two separate updates now, is that, like you, when I get into the car and it wakes up it needs to re-establish communication with my wifi. However, when software updates start to roll out, if I leave my house and go run an errand I need to, when I get home and the car establishes wifi connection again I’ll immediately get a notification that a software update is available. As mentioned it’s only happened twice, so I guess it could just be coincidence, but at some point if I’m anxious for an update (say I have a trip the next day), I’ll take a drive to the store or something to see if arriving back to home wifi triggers anything.

My update said it installed with errors when I got in the car. My phone as key won’t let me put my car into drive. Called Rivian and they said they’ll re-push today. Anyone else get an installed with errors message?

Interestingly, I’ve actually noticed the same. I got the update yesterday after my first drive in 2 days.

Connect+ sub and got the update yesterday. I’ve owned my Gen 2 for a little over 40 days. I’ll be part of the group that feels this is a substantial update. My premium sound now finally sounds premium. The hands off wheel feature worked flawlessly on my 1 hour drive last night. And auto tilt mirrors are quite welcome in my tight garage.

I had talked myself into buying the performance upgrade but it doesn’t yet show up in my Dual Max T. Based on what others have posted, they apparently only make that available 60 days after purchase… I get why, but I vividly remember buying FSD in a Model S from the parking lot at delivery. So, back to waiting. ;-)

Hmmm I’m surprised they pushed to ~50% c+ eligibility last night, given this issue. Might hold off on installing for couple days…

Updated our gen 1 R1T last night. Drove this morning and everything seemed fine.

I promise, this isn't me complaining...I'm always happy for new features. This is more an open question to hopefully see things from a different point of view.

With that, I personally don't see much benefit in the mirror tilt function with the 360 and wheel well cameras. I played with it this morning, and personally the cameras seem to give me a better view of curbs and parking lot lines than a tilted mirror.

Would love to hear other perspectives. Maybe I'm overlooking something. :)

I wish there was a momentary button to ENABLE tilted mirrors (shift into reverse and be able to tap the screen or a steering wheel button). The only place this would be a great benefit to me is when parallel parking. I do this.... 3-5% of the time, maybe? SO, I'm for sure leaving the mirror tilt feature disabled.

But everyone has their own use case. And having a feature we hadn't had before is awesome, so I'm also not going to complain about it.
I think some people are more comfortable with cameras.

I think some people grew up in an era before cameras and don't entirely trust them.
No one is wrong. Just so long as they're safe! :)

Agree 100%. There's obviously value in it if tons of people requested it (it was very popular on RivianTrackr) and Rivian took the time to see it through to production, so it's obviously on me that I'm not currently seeing that perspective. Asking solely to try and expand my view. :)

Very much a personal thing, I think. This is not a feature I like or will ever use. But plenty of people have been asking for a long time. Glad it's there for their sake

I recall a post here months, maybe a year or two ago, where somone backed in to a pole and damaged their Rivian. They said the the pole was not visible in the backup camera... [shrugs]
