Another dead camp speaker 😆

Looks like I've joined the club. Went to use my camp speaker a few days ago and it was completely dead. Plugged into USB-C and it eventually turned on, but as soon as I pull the cord out it dies. Suspect the internal battery has failed.

My two year warranty on it expires in three days. I reported it to Rivian three days ago. So technically, it was reported six days before the end of the two year warranty. The app auto-generated a mobile service ticket for the end of April.

Anyone want to take bets about whether they'll give me a free one, or should I just buy one on eBay or from the Gear Shop?

Conversely, any troubleshooting ideas?

if it was reported prior to warranty expiring, Rivian should take care of it one way or another.

FYI, assuming it still works (I've never used it in just over 2 years), my camp speaker may be up for sale this weekend.

If they don't replace it, try the JBL Charge 5, it's only $120 and sounds waaaaay better than the Camp speaker.

I take mine out occasionally and charge it. If it dies, I probably won't miss it. Never even used the damn thing.

I have the BestEVmod bin and it works great. I‘m actually surprised how much I use it. The only annoying thing is it’s a pain if your cupholders are occupied, but that isn’t their fault. I didn’t need it to lock so I put a piece of tape over the contacts in the back that activate the locking mechanism…

My Camp Speaker warranty expired a few days ago as well or has it? Mine was replaced about a year ago because it wasn't working. I wonder if that 2 year warranty period restarts with when I got the replacement?

Man, I really want to like the camp speaker, but I just can't get the thing to consistently work. Are people installing software updates for theirs through the vehicle? I may ask Rivian support before my two years is up soon.

How long did you charge it? I have to charge mine for like an hour or two after it completely dies. Then it seems to behave normally.

To actually answer OP, you need to charge it for awhile if it's dead before it can turn on normally. Also you need to use a high power charger. Rivian doesn't give exacts other than "use a laptop charger instead of a phone charger". I take that as in >=35W. Charge for a few hours, try again.

The speaker is horribly designed. It sucks power even when not On. I'm thinking about tearing it apart and using the batteries for my flashlights.
