You clearly do not understand the philosophy of this company, I'm guessing you are under the impression they will have Car Play some day too.So is this your opinion? Or do you work for Rivian and have the power make decisions?
general consensus on the forum but you can form your own opinion from thisSo is this your opinion? Or do you work for Rivian and have the power make decisions?
If you know that none of the forum members have the power to make decisions like this at Rivian, then why tf would you ask them about future plans and philosophy at Rivian? So is this your opinion? Or do you work for Rivian and have the power make decisions?
This is like saying Tesla is going to offer ICE range extenders too....not going to happen.I really hope that Rivian is not religious about this like some of the folks in this forum are..
There is a clear market appetite and there are many use cases for a gas range extender. If Rivian doesn't offer a gas range extender, they will loose customers/sales to other brands - it's as easy as that. So from a business standpoint, they should probably partner with or procure from Scout..
I have a Scout on reservation and I'm switching over if the Scout truck works well and the Gen3 R1T doesn't offer a gas range extender
Sir - Frigidaire, Whirlpool, LG, Samsung, etc. are not in the EV truck businessRivian is an EV manufacturer. Not an ICE manufacturer afraid to make EVs.
Where is this clear market demand? How many gas range extenders are on the market right now? I'm pretty sure the only ones ever sold were the Karma Revero ne Fisker Karma, the BMW i3, and the Chevy Volt. We know the story of the Karma, and the i3 and Volt are no longer made...There is a clear market appetite and there are many use cases for a gas range extender. I think the industry is moving towards solutions where the trailer also has a battery which drives the trailer and increases the range. This also provides a battery buffer for the RV industry to help run the AC, fridge, etc at camping sites without power.Rivian has had a patent for a bed mounted battery pack for years now, but between the reduced bed space and the weight of the attachment, which I think we speculated to be in excess of 300lbs at the time, it was seemingly abandoned.

A hybrid solution doesn't align at all with Rivian's brand ethos nor it's long term vision of transportation. So you don't need to work for Rivian to see it's not going to happen.
Today would have been a good day to do it. Maybe next April 1st.With Scout and Ramchager coming, when will Rivian introduce a R1T with a range extender?
That’s is a must when towing!
Like everyone else is telling you, EREV from Rivian isn't likely at all. With Scout and Ramchager coming, when will Rivian introduce a R1T with a range extender?
