Yes @LL75 , I am working on installing the stock mount today. Tomorrow I will meet up with @gerrylum to get his expertise with the harness install / comma setup.

Quick question for everyone who has a windshield tint. Is it safe to use the 70% alcohol wipe to clean the windshield to install the mount or should I make my own solution diluted down even further to 40% or just use regular glass cleaner on the clear windshield tint (Llumar Air 80)?

I'm wondering the same thing. Would like to know.

Quick update. Thanks to @gerrylum I realized I need to install the mount that comes from Lukas since that is the 8 degree mount needed for Rivian.

I also plan to use a 50/50 iso solution to clean the tint and prep it for the mount.

This will be a temporary mount while I decide which magnetic mount I want to go with.

I am waiting to see what Beartech releases for their v2 magnetic mount.

To clean the tint on the windshield, I used chemical guys cleaner first, then invisible glass which is safe for tint and finally 50/50 isopropyl solution to clean and then attached the Comma 3x mount.

edit: One good point made by @gerrylum is that If you want the Comma in the center of the windshield, you need to align it with the mirror stump which is in the actual center of the windshield. I will do that for sure on my magnetic mount.

Looks good. How much space is it between the mount and the base of the cover? Did you run the wire for the comma yet thru the side panel ?

I would say the space between the mount and base of cover is about 2 inches.

Today, I got @gerrylum expert install guidance and assistance to setup the Comma 3x and run the wires down the side panel / plug-in to the Rivian ADAS module.

This is an upgrade I should’ve done a long time ago.

The install was straight forward and the benefits are amazing. I can finally use ADAS on unmapped roads.

I plan to get a magnetic mount and then will reinstall the mirror cover trim plate.

The last thing I did was tap into the mirror for power for the radar detector since I was already there.

I would buy a comma 3x for Gen 1 and Gen 2.

The benefits are awesome and well worth it over the long run especially once Rivian starts charging for self driving.

I don't think I am interested in any subscription models now that I have the Comma 3x.

If folks in DFW are worried about the install, I can check with a @gerrylum / Lukas / Friend with a shop, if we can setup an install day and work out a deal that is fair for everyone to knock out like 5 - 10 Rivian comma installs.

The full install from start to finish took 2 hours with plenty of breaks in between. You can probably knock it out in 1 hour if you know what you're doing and don't have someone like me slowing you down ;)

Looked really good. Gerry is awesome. Looked like I can go a little less than 2 inches between the mount and the base cover. ?

100%, none of this would be possible without @LivingInKaos and @gerrylum.

You should be able to move it up slightly higher than where I have mine and still work out just fine.

As previously mentioned, you don't even notice the unit once you're up and running but you definitely notice ADAS working on unmapped roads like rural 2 lane roads.

I can't wait. Hopefully, the errors won't happen with Lukas harness for me.

Lukas kit is very nice and already includes the 8 degree mount Rivian vehicle needs. The lane change feature that is available using the upgrade harness/sunnypilot and MADS (Modular Assistive Driving System) functionality is well worth it (you control the throttle and Comma controls the steering). The seamless integration with stock controls is icing on the cake. I can see how many owners would use MADS as their go to instead of ADAS.

I am happy with the overall experience and plan to recommend this upgrade to other Rivian owners I know who would like to leapfrog their ADAS and keep their Gen 1 or add additional features to their Gen 2.

I really hope so too. Last time we tried with the harness from comma itself , my r1s popped up all kind of errors and not functional. It went back to normal after we removed it

I have my Chun mount 1 3/8" from the mirror housing cover. Dead center laterally is 26 7/8" from the A-pillar. One method to mount this evenly is take a piece of painter's tape and tape up to 1.375" down from the housing to make your straight line across. Then measure from the A-pillars on both sides to mark the center on the tape. Then line up the center of the Chun Mount USB slot with the mark and mount the mount just below the tape line.

Are you using the standard slide mount?
