Apple CarPlay coming to rival Tesla

Like so many things Tesla, Tesla's built-in navigation is so awesome, so superior, so second to none. It needs no help whatsoever.

Six years later, what a great feeling it still is to get into my Tesla MS Raven, and see how everything works so perfectly. The same for my glorious Tesla MY Performance. And neither has stupid ICE-age buttons and knobs, the icing on the cake. Just a screen. So refreshing.

I have no use for Android Auto in my Teslas, much less for this apple playcar thing, whatever the hell that is. My future Tesla replacements will not need it, either.

CP should be in Rivians too. No doubt. It's a safety first interface because of its ease. And you can pop right out back to Rivian Ui with a click. With CP, the curve to entry is greatly reduced.

Honestly if Rivian wants to add Carplay but lock it behind a Connect+ subscription, I'd be fine with that. Right now we have zero cell phone integration, not even texting, and that's very limiting.

For those who don't use Carplay, then don't use it. Stick to your green text bubbles upsetting iPhone users.

Apple won't allow such anti-consumer shenanigans. The entire point of CP was to stop the stupidity and games from all he different and awful infotainment systems.

This is because Telsas are all old and undesirable now. Couple that with Elon being a lunatic and you have sales dropping like a stone. Yet another idiotic decision from Elmo and company, they spent the last 10 years talking about how great their software is, only to capitulate to CarPlay.

It's not their software that's responsible for their lagging sales; it's everything else about their cars. Their cheap-looking interiors without a driver screen, their dumb decisions for yokes and turn signal buttons, lack of an overhead camera, and stagnated designs are the major reason for their sales decline. Other companies that make more compelling vehicles have entered the EV space and pretty much all of them make better vehicles. Tesla's only strength was their software, so CarPlay isn't going to help.

I didn't intend my comment to come off as negative, but in re-reading it, I can see how it could be taken that way, so I apologize. My goal was to try and get people to stop arguing with other people and for those who want Carplay (or even those who don't) to channel their efforts into more productive means of expressing their opinions (e.g., to tell Rivian). I care because I like this site and I feel like threads like this reduce the sense of community and create hurt feelings for very little benefit.

There must be a great reason to deny AA/CP. It's a deal breaker for so many potential buyers. Almost seem self-destructive to not figure out how to integrate them. Almost everyone else has. Whatever. I still want seat options. Ever sat in a mid 2000s gm truck? Heaven.
