uhh. Another failed case here. Anybody know what was the root cause? The ac drain service campaign supposed to fix things but made it worst. Prior to that I can at least see condensate draining on the garage floor, now nothing.

My mats are still getting moisture on them even after taking it in for service and having all the work done to fix it. I just dropped it back off yesterday to Rivian for the same issue.

I would recommend taking a 1.5 hour drive and double checking your mats for moisture after the repairs are complete to see if it actually has been resolved.

This is a concerning and widespread issue. I'm taking my 2023 R1T back for a third time this summer. First in June, then July, now I'll be back the first week of September. I'll be asking about Lemon Law on my truck if this repair does not fix. At first, I thought it may just be my SC not fixing it properly, but seeing this and other threads, it's an engineering issue.

Well lucky me, I too now have wet floors! Anyone go through this out of warranty?

Actually the issue re-occurred despite the repair. Back to having wet carpets in the front. I have another appointment with the service center in November.

I had the initial repair done and had to go back in a second time because they noticed their was no buytl tape when they checked the drain plug.

I still need to take a long drive of more than 1.5 hours to confirm this has fixed my issue.

Just got back from my third trip for this issue. Fingers crossed it's actually fixed! 34 days at the SC since June 6th. Happy I was given a loaner for most of that time, but I just want this riddle solved. Reached out to Rivian about a buyback or replacement, but have yet to receive a response. My only hope is that they become aware of this issue. It hurts brand loyalty and owner confidence!

I took a 45 min drive / 10 min pre-conditioning to drop my vehicle off to the service center for 12v battery and did not notice any wet driver carpet.

Next weekend I will try to take a 1+ hour drive and double check both mats to make sure they are dry.

I appreciate Rivian taking this issue seriously and expediting the service appointment to resolve the issue.

Thank you for this post. After I came across it, I checked, and sure enough, I had the water issue as well. It looks like they replaced the HVAC assembly again—which they also did a few months back when they replaced the subframe—but the issue still persists. This is now the third time they’ve replaced the HVAC assembly.

I asked for a buyback. However, I think even with a buyback we’ll still be at a disadvantage. Based on my calculation, even if they refund the full amount (I’m an early reservation holder from before the price increase), we would still have to pay more out of pocket for the Quad Motor model. I don’t mind paying for the mileage driven, but I can’t get a replacement for the same price I originally paid. anyone have an insight on this?

I’m in the same boat. My 2022 R1T with less than 30K miles has been in service in July and August, and now October to November for the HVAC to be replaced twice and resealed once. It’s been out of service for 35 days in the past four months.

This integrated system is very sensitive and has super tight tolerances. I’ve been trying to work with Rivian to get my vehicle replaced. We bought the flagship vehicle Rivian R1T quad motor and I agree with you that it’s insane to try to get the R1T quad motor now since the prices have gone up astronomically.

I’m pushing Rivian to replace my quad motor with a brand new quad motor because I believe that’s what’s fair. They created this integrated HVAC unit that is responsible for cooling the motors and the battery system. In addition to climate control, and when it fails, it affects the entire vehicle safety. I don’t feel comfortable with them Frankensteining the vehicle together three times in a row without a clear cut understanding as to what is even going wrong. When you talk to these technicians, they’re pretty honest that they don’t know why these systems are failing and it’s unpredictable as to whether they’re going to fail again.

I went ahead and also filed with the BBB auto line which is a unique program that only a handful of car manufacturers actually participate in. I’m hoping this puts pressure on Rivian to do the right thing. When all is set and done, even if they give me a brand new quad motor, it’s going to cost me money, I’m going to have to pay taxes on that, higher insurance rate, and then end up paying for things like PPF all over again.

It’s all still worth it though because the vehicle is phenomenal as long as it’s working.

Our other vehicle is a Tesla model Y. I never thought that Tesla would be the more reliable vehicle. wow…..
