I guess this was announced a while ago but apparently Lucid is going to announce something about their midsize SUV on March 12th. Gonna be a busy day. Supposed to start shipping by the end of 2026 in limited volume in the $50K-$60K range.

Interesting they are choosing to build them in Saudi Arabia. I am sure labor is a lot less expensive, so they can have higher margins.

I can't even believe they are still around. The Saudis love putting billions in a blender.

With all those new mid size SUV coming model Y is for sure losing its best selling car moniker in 2026

That's not it. Saudi's are actively diversifying their industries and workforce. The reason they invested in Lucid is to control the board and build an EV factory in their kingdom. Financial results are not measured by P&L for Lucid but what they can do in Saudi Arabia.

Lucid Earth (their small SUV), will compete head to head with R2 and Model Y.

Frankly, I am surprised that Lucid is still a public company. I would have thought that by now it would have gone private under their sovereign fund holdings.

Ha! Totally trying to steal Rivian's thunder if they have a big announcement that day...

Only fools want timely service with abundant service centers, waiting 3 months for service is so much more exciting! Or be able to text message natively or want 800v charging, V2H capabilities and etc. damn fools!
For me I’ve got a BMW dealer 5 min away but I’m almost 3 hours from the Normal SC. I really don’t want to do this again with limited service. Granted Normal has taken great care of us and waits have never been long. But it’s not exactly a metropolis which helps the situation…

Well....they were early investors of Rivian and I believe they still own a little less than 10% of outstanding shares. So.......

Not the same per Google:
Saudi Involvement: The investment comes from a private Saudi business group (Abdul Latif Jameel), not directly from the Saudi government's Public Investment Fund (PIF), which holds a separate stake in competitor Lucid Motors.

Nice. Looks like they came a long way. Their infotainment systems were a mess, but this one looks nicely thought out. I can’t wait for the X7 version.

Maybe I can convince my wife to get the X7 version.
