I can help answer questions...
Sooo... does Amazon Music still work as it does currently? Able to ask for an artist, add favorite songs, tell it you don't like a song (so it won't play again), etc.?

(I have a paid Amazon Music Unlimited subscription if it matters. Not sure what features are available on standard or free tier)

I'm still hoping that RA will be able to change most vehicle settings. @RivianTrackr, if you get the chance to test this, the one I'm most interested in is turning on/off Lane Keep Assist (LKA) by voice. Use case is that the LKA is super aggressive on a very twisty canyon road and I wind up just turning it off so it doesn't try to shunt me into a car crossing the center line if I have to keep it near the right edge of the road. Obviously navigating several levels deep in menus while on one of these roads isn't exactly safe, so being able to toggle that with voice would be cool!

It has been my often expressed opinion over many years that the voice assistant should be able to do everything that can be done through the UI and the physical buttons. The software already exists to control all these things within operating constraints (e.g. can't open the hood, by any means, while the car is in drive) so it's really just a matter of exposing this functionality through the voice interface in addition to the current controls.

My Gen 2 suspension behavior changed in the last update. It takes a long time to full settle from Kneel by making a lot of noticeable adjustments. I hope this is fixed in the latest update.
Same in my Gen 1. Also some heat/air changes that are less than great. Those might be my truck malfunctioning though as I had a component replaced not long ago (wet mats).

Literally, how can you know that? Right now we don't know exactly what messaging capabilities normal Rivian Assistant will have, and now you are speculating on something that we didn't have any idea about until five minutes ago?

That sounds logical - I remember that I was able to receive messages sent to groups in my Tesla (which did text messages via Bluetooth), but sending to a group message chain never worked (at least up until I got rid of mine in 2024). It would send to the person that had sent the previous incoming message.
Because it's been reported elsewhere by people with more information such as Jose himself.

Since Amazon Music is not a native app, it won’t work with Rivian Assistant.

Hmmm will test for sure

No Amazon Music once we switch to RA? So we're basically losing one of the few music services we have? Darn. That is unfortunate. Thank you for the info. 😢

I guess it saves me on one monthly subscription fee, at least. 😖

Editing to add: Guess that means we loose Pandora, too. Since iirc, it plays through Alexa. Geeze. 😭

In the demo it was made explicit that Assistant runs in two different ways: locally on your vehicle’s hardware for simple things like climate control, and remotely on a larger, more capable model for more complex behaviors. The second mode is clearly going to require Connect+, there just isn’t any way it could possibly work without an internet connection. I wonder if the local, more limited behaviors might be available without. It seems like it should be possible, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
I asked at autonomy day. It depends on what hardware you have. With the 3rd gen compute much of it will run locally. On 1st gen it’s probably all remote only ;-( Not sure about Gen 2 and the pre-LiDAR R2s.

I did wonder about that. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it shakes out in the real world.

The upcoming 2026.15 software update.

Additional Improvements
Rivian Autonomy Platform - Gen 2 Only
  • Improved defrost for the front driver assistance cameras to increase the availability of driver assistance features.
  • Improved the smoothness and comfort of Autonomy+ features, Lane Change on Command and Universal Hands-Free.- Gen 2 Only
  • Improved the performance and reliability of remote commands from the Rivian mobile app.
  • Fixed a very rare issue that prevented passive locking when multiple digital keys were present in the vehicle. - Gen 2 Only
  • Added the current road name to the navigation map on the center display.
Infotainment
  • Fixed a rare issue that inadvertently turned off the HD Radio setting.
  • Fixed a rare issue that prevented or delayed rendering of graphics on the Drive Modes and Camping screens.
  • Fixed issues that caused a color mismatch between the text and theme in the Settings app for Lane departure warning, the tire rotation notification, and Kneel status.
  • Fixed a rare issue with range estimation during charging at a low or high state of charge - Gen 2 Only
I have been waiting for YEARS for an update to Navigation that allows us to label dropped points or saved addresses. When are we going to see that? Also, hate Alexa. Voice control on my Ford pickup was better for phone and nav, and that's all I want.

Did Rivian ever promise that?

I had not heard anything about a 'lite' Rivian Assistant until today with his post here, my apologies.
