Sooo, can you tell us if it still has Amazon music? Or is that a trade secret?

I liked the convenience of "Alexa, play such-and-such artist" so much, I subscribed to it. Or maybe it was all the incessant Taylor Swift commercials nagging me to subscribe.

For what it’s worth, you can tell Alexa to play (whatever) on Spotify… which I prefer.
I also learned how to have Alexa refuse to play Taylor Swift in my R1T and respond with a verbal refusal

Brilliant! All I have ever asked of the Rivian Spotify app is a way to get it to stop playing random music when a podcast episode ends. It has a perfect four year record of NEVER suggesting an artist I'm even vaguely interested in, and an amazingly high rate of playing horrifyingly vile trash.

Hey, thank you for the tip. After fumbling around with what it meant by "you need to enable the skill" (google helped, here), and some other truly dumb errors, e.g.:

I was able to get it working.

It doesn't seem to support everything Amazon Music does ("Alexa, I like this song" -"Okay, adding it to your favorites" - works on Amazon Music but gives an "unsupported" message from Spotify). But otherwise good to know, just in case.

Am somewhat worried that reliable sources like José haven't confirmed this yet...

We had a 23 R1T come in last week with Rivian assistant! We got the car directly from Rivian as an ex employee vehicle. Had 2026.03.0 installed. After a couple of days it was gone, yet ownership wasn’t transferred and profile still said “Rivian” and “Rivian Driver” under drivers and keys (just like the loaners usually do).

Assuming Rivian yanked it once they learned it was no longer in their fleet.

Was able to play around with it for a bit, and it worked flawlessly. With how far along it seemed to be, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s in the next public release update to the fleet!

Glad you can keep Alexa. I know people hate it but I have it integrated with my Home Assistant so a lot of devices at home are exposed. I can tell Alexa to turn on the garage lights and open or close the garage doors (from anywhere), which is nice.

Yeah, you won't be able to keep Alexa once Rivian Assistant rolls out...

The only thing that makes sens with regards to Alexa is to transition to Alexa+, but that has a much higher associated cost. Since Rivian is already incurring added costs for Google Gemini, I don't think they'll add Alexa+ to that mix. The Alexa toggle could be specific to the alpha/beta software, and they have also shown they can support multiple models on the backend.

That said, they do have a good relationship with Amazon so I suppose anything is possible, but I won't be holding my breath.

Which is fine by me because now it refuses to work properly all of a sudden. "Sorry, I don't know how to do that" when it used to work just fine for the same requests last week.
