It'll probably go on sale closer to the end of May.
Wonder if there's any chance of a preorder queue. I'm just sitting on a Comma4 I ordered because I don't want to do the harness install more than once and I'm definitely getting this new one.

Am in a similar boat, recently ordered the comma and will certainly be jumping on the new harness ASAP before some upcoming road trips.

The site says that a Comma 4 is required. Any idea if this will work with the Comma 3?
The Comma 3 isn't supported any more, but the 3X is nearly identical to the 4 internally.

I have a Comma 3X with the basic harness (Rivian A). It sounds like in order to get angle-based steering, I’ll need to upgrade to a Comma 4 as well as install a new harness? I assume the longitudinal upgrade is still required for the Comma to take over longitudinal control? Or does the new harness take care of that?

You don't need to update to a Comma 4, the Comma 3X will work fine. The longitudinal upgrade is not required as the new angle-based harness has all that stuff built-in.

3X should be fine as it has the same chipset and capabilities as the 4. The main differences between the 3X and 4 is size and thermal packaging. The new angle-based harness should be the only harness you need and replace the other harnesses. The main difference in the longitudinal upgrade is the addition of another Panda device for more CAN access. The angle-based adds another Panda (it should have 2) in addition to the Panda in the Comma device itself.

"This is the final, best interface that we will ever need forever."

I've worked in tech since the 80s. Here's what I have to say.

Totally agree. I'll never say "never", but I will say that any future additions of Pandas will probably come with very diminishing returns.

True, however, with the vehicle tech no longer moving forward, the chances of needing anything beyond the new angle harness are pretty slim. We don't have any more physical buttons that can be accessed and the comma itself isn't upgrading again any time soon (outside of the e-gpu) so ?

Uncle Tony found that one of the Hyundai camera connected harnesses works well for lateral if going with openpilot only - which is a great option to keep install easy if that's all that one desires.

Yeah, I joke, but this is SOOO far along now that it seems unlikely to have major things come up any more. This learning process is on the far end of the steep curve.

I have the Comma 4, without the Xnor longitudinal upgrade. I haven’t felt the need for that upgrade. But, this new angle steering deal has me very interested. I drive regularly on curvy mountain highways/roads. My stock setup definitely has limitations in this environment. The Xnor angle steering seems like it could really make a difference and be the answer to my system’s shortcomings. Gonna have to keep an eye on it .
