I’m missing something. Does this have to be installed directly on the Comma 4 itself, as I do not see this option anywhere else - SunnyPilot, Sunnylink, etc.

Hold ‘er Newt, I just got a notice from Rivian that the latest, greatest software update is ready to install on my rig. I‘ll have to get back to the Comma later ✌
You have to re-install sunnypilot/openpilot using this branch.
You have to go into the settings menu of the comma 4, select uninstall sunnypilot/ or openpilot, and then when the initial "install open pilot" or "install custom fork" screen comes up you have to select custom fork and then type in "AdventurePilotDev/ap-staging "

Its just like if you were installing sunnypilot. Uninstall your current software and go through the installation process again. You'll get to a point where it asks you if you want to install Openpilot or Custom Software. Choose Custom Software and use that path.

Thank you, very much! That explains it. Gotta start from square one.

I adore my comma on my Gen 1, and would love to use it with my Gen 2 as well. Are we still waiting on a harness to be available for that to be possible? Universal hands free is nice, but I’ve already bought the comma hardware, and I’m not in a hurry to spend another $2500 to get the same functionality. I’m

Harnesses for Gen 2 are available to purchase now on Xnor. They'll ship in a few weeks. He had a couple for sale, but looks like he sold out of the first small batch.

I’m a pretty new comma 4 user. When the angle based harness comes out, could we just daisy chain it to the harness we already installed and leave the original comma harness not connected to anything? My understanding is it goes into bypass mode when not connected to the comma. That would make it a defacto extender so you don’t have to go through the hassle of plugging a new wiring loom into the axm.

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be possible, at least not without some major modifications to the harness that probably don't make the procedure worth it - you'd have to take it out anyway.

I will say, I understand the desire not to go thru that again. I was dreading having to do it. However, I found a hook tool that worked gloriously for my old arthritic fat fingers. I removed the harness I had in, then removed the components from my new harness just to make it less bulky. Fished the harness end behind the wire bundle and bracket until I could see it close the the AXM. I then hooked one of the lower empty pin slots with the hook and got it closer to position. Using a long skinny flat head screw driver, I moved the top of the connector so it was straight with the port and pulled the hook guiding it in. Then took a plastic spudger and pushed it the rest of the way in until the latch snapped in. The hook shape was important because it kept the handle from being in my view. I think the hardest part was getting to where I could see, everything else went really easy. Compared to my first time of 2 hrs, this was nothing.

Just dropped a new video on the latest angle-based steering update for Rivian.

One of the biggest criticisms was the lack of cooperative steering, but Lukas listened and delivered. His new update brings coop steering to the angle-based harness and it makes a big difference in how the system feels.

Check it out here:
