I am a November 2018 reservation holder and recently totaled my Model X, so I am without a car (first time since the Army many moons ago).

I am curious who else is a 2018 R1S reservation holder that has not yet taken delivery?

I spent many years in production and logistics and their batching process confuses me (much later reservations getting delivery with the same configuation in the same area, while old timers patiently wait).

So, who else is a 2018 R1S old timer patiently waiting? Below are some of the names and details I have come across in the forum.

I have just received the "We are not going to make the R1S in your configuration" email. The only interior choice now for my R1S is Black Mountain. My pre-order was for Canyon Red/ Forest edge on 2/3/19. I have seen these Canyon Red / Black Mountain going to orders as late as 11/19. I'm pretty mad about this. I have now seemingly been pushed back to Jan-March. These guy just keep making stupid decisions!

I think ~ 4 years is the going rate for R1S deliveries. Looking across different threads it is pretty consistent (w/o data crunching)

Well, I'm in the 4.5 year club as I'm a Nov. 30, 2018 preorder with a fulfillment 'estimate' of Q2 2023.

Assigned a Guide in March, signed PBA in May, 75 minutes to nearest service center, and straightforward configuration: R1S, OC, Underbody, inflatable spare and cross bars. I'm ready to go and have been for 4-6 months, but now I'm told to cool my heels.

On one hand, I don't need it now and I'm glad various defects are being taken care of and updates keep coming. The longer I'm asked to wait, the better the R1S should be.

On the other hand, competition with newer tech is coming, especially the KIAs, Hyundai's and Geneses, and that makes me pause, especially since bidirectionality is what I most want my Rivian to have and it doesn't, but Korean EVs are offering 800v architecture and bidirectionality.

As Longhorngal on another thread said, I like that Rivian is probably fulfilling its target of 25K vehicles for 2022 by producing more R1Ts and EV vans, but I don't like how we SUV folks are being pushed back yet again, especially when so many of us are in the 3-4+ years club. If we weren't in the pre-March pricing group, a significant number of defections might occur. Heck, even in the pre-March pricing group, there will be a lot of defections to S. Korean EVs, which don't offer off-road prowess, but offer an awlful lot for less money than Rivian & others.

So, it's possible that being in the 4.5 year club makes sense. If I slip into a 5 year club, all bets are off the table as to whether I'm still in the game.

I haven't changed my config in 2 years with similar specs/order date as you and I'm in the same delivery window. I haven't seen anyone with an Ocean Coast interior get a delivery window before the April-June window. I think its just the interior batching which is dictating the delivery windows at this point, but only they (Rivian) knows...or maybe they don't even know.
