We ever get any "soft ETA" on Rivian Assistant replacing Alexa? I assume it will be before public availability of R2? Don't think they'd want to release a new model still using Alexa, and then immediately have to switch...
I thought I remembered a "February" mention during the Autonomy+ event, but I've been wrong before...

EDIT - Alas, I was wrong. The only thing remotely official is "Early 2026".

Talk of a media embargo ending on the 10th plus Q4 earnings on the 12th plus the fact that this is the longest gap they've ever had between updates since the beginning makes me think this is going to be a big one. Fingers crossed for AI assistant and texting at the very least, if not more.

Ive been thinking the same thing. Its all pointing towards something more than bug fixes.

I'll take Phone as a Key improvements for $100 Alex.

Half the time, I still have to take my phone out of my pocket, open the app and by then the vehicle unlocks (I don't need to click unlock in the app). Otherwise, I can press on the driver's door handle until the end of time with the phone in my pocket and, many times, nothing will happen. iPhone 17 Pro, same issues when I had the 16 Pro since I just upgraded phones a few weeks ago.
That is crazy. I haven’t had PAK issues in 2 years. Samsung Galaxy and 2 Gen 1’s. Amazing how much the experience can be for everyone.

Jose also hinted that the OTA was coming with some things that'll make dual owners happy. I assume making current all-purpose mode "conserve" mode and new All-Purpose mode all time AWD. Maybe launch control. I just hope they fix the HVAC bug

They supposedly patched the issue they had with iPhone 17s, but I can confirm it didn’t work lol.

PAK works for me but it’s so slow. It’s changed with each update.

Gen 2 here, picked up one year ago. Theoretically "improved". Practically? No real change in the last major update. Maybe it opens a half second quicker if I open the app.

Amen. Everyone out here hoping for text messages and launch control...I'd settle for HVAC that doesn't go completely bananas, ignoring my fan speed setting and/or attempting to cook us alive despite being set to Auto 68F. Oh, and would be great if they can throw in automatic heated seats/steering wheel, like basically every luxury car (and even many mainstream brands) has had for the last 10 years.

I swear it's due to phone power saving settings not pinging the Rivian with enough frequency.
Same Gen 1 S20+, S20, and now an S25 Edge. No issues with any unless I power save drastically.

I agree, it is very strange.

I had zero PaaK issues until the last update. Now it unlocks and locks just fine, great actually, even when the phone is in my back pocket.

But sometimes after unlocking, while I am sitting in the driver's seat, it does not detect my PaaK. It seems to happen the most when I am at home, which is weird. Maybe that is because it has been asleep for a while? IDK.

When it does that, I have been experimenting with various ways to fix it. Turning BT off and on. Opening the app, locking the doors, and then unlocking them. Force closing all the apps and then opening the Rivian app again.

The only thing that seems to reliably work is placing the phone on the left charging pad. As soon as I do that, the truck starts.

While this is slightly annoying, it is not as bad as the PaaK failures I had in my Mach-e. The saving grace for the Mach-e is the door keypad, which would at least let me get in the car while I struggled to get the stupid thing to detect my PaaK.

Same hardware here. My PaaK sucks at home, though it's better than it was a year ago.

Wayssm said in the December reveal that an apple watch app is coming early 2026. I'm assuming it'll be an app with a key inside, so you won't need your keycard, key fob or phone to use the vehicle. But time will tell what it will do.
my Apple Watch already has a key in it, but I am Gen2.
