I know there is an extensive list of tires and I’m looking for wheels now. Has anyone researched and documented what wheels are available? I don’t want to overlook any good options and I’m done with the 21” tire debacle.
thanks in advance

They will have 21’s on the R2
doubtful as that is just a prototype. I believe they will try to stick to (2) sizes like the R1 series.

Search the forum. Lots of threads on wheels. Atomic Wheels alone, a site sponsor, has multiple and active threads and R1-specific offers in both 20" and 22".

R1 series had three options including 21’s. There are actually many 21” tire options for the R2 as the weight is much lower than R1. Expect to see three options on the R2.

The R2’s weight has not been announced, thus we can not confirm all 21” options available on the market will work. We can assume it is lighter than the R1’s, but unknown how much lighter. Regardless, R1’s “use”to have (3) tire size options. Now they only have (2), thus the reason for my speculation that they will follow suit with (2) sizes on the R2, by which I don’t think 21’s will be one of those options.

Looks like us 21 inch wheel owners are stuck with a grand total of 2 tire options.

Pirelli (OEM) or Michelin Defender LTX. All other sizes have 20 options each.

I can report on that Tomorrow and Friday :) North Texas is expecting some white love ;)
I wonder if there is a significant improvement in ride quality with the same Michelins on 275/60/R20s vs the 21s. Both 33” tires. I don’t know that anyone has been able to compare both since they probably chose between the two…

Got my Michelins installed yesterday. First thing noticed is the ride quality improvement! It was an instant change.

It's getting below freezing in texas so I can't still test grip levels for acceleration and braking but I'll be doing that in a few weeks and it warms back up. I have data (GPS data from my RaceBox) from the Pirelli's to compare.
Waiting for the data ?

R2 can stick with 21" as long as it is 275/50/21 instead of 55.

Hi, long time listener, first time poster. Just want to say thank you to all members, esp for sharing your opinions and saving me a TON of time. Just ordered the Michelin Defenders LTX - totally appreciate it. I'll let you know what I think.

That's what I'm getting when these are replaced.

After 8 months on these Michelin Defenders, I'm glad I switched to them on my 21s. The ride and comfort is way better, improved snow and rain traction and super smooth as glass on highways up to 90 mph. Efficiency is not that much different from the Pirellis. You will be happy.

Needing to replace my 275/55/21 tires after 25K miles Looks like ONLY options are Pirellis (the same that is on there Now) which I am not impressed with
OR the Micheline Defender LTX MS/2 which appear to be out of stock nationwide for approx 60 days +

ANY suggestions for other tires or manufactures for these rims ?

Ken
I’ll just say that Discount Tire managed to find a set of the 21” Michelins for me back at the end of November, and I’ve been very pleased with them. Better ride, great traction in snow, the same qualities that I’ve enjoyed with LTX M/S 2 on my other trucks. I was prepared to extend the Pirellis until the Defenders became available, but I got lucky. Hopefully the production will resume soon.

Purchased the 21" Micheline Defender II 's and love them. Great ride, great handling, no noise
likes tires so much, buying them for my wife's hybrid honda
