I kinda like the motor noise.Agreed - removing engine noise leaves wind and road noise more audible and then EVs have new sounds like cooling fans happening at times not typical for an ICE vehicle so unexpected.
Coming from a Tesla Model 3 of 2018 vintage (vin 93k so early on but not the initial run in production) my new 2025 R1S is much better for road and wind noise. But the electric motors are noisier especially in regen however they are not loud. Plus there is the suspension compressor but that’s expected. The premium audio is reasonable but not as good as the Tesla audio but perhaps updates can address.
Sometimes the regen noise is intrusive but I’m sure I will get used to it. I’m wondering if the noise is coming from chassis harmonics or something like that since the power output is strangely similar between motors in a Tesla Model 3 performance version and an R1S dual. (Model 3p pre 2024 version 527 hp/487 ft-lb vs 2025 R1S dual 533 hp/610 ft-lb). The motors in my Tesla are 6 years old technology and closer to the driver physically.I kinda like the motor noise.

I lease a 2024 Dual Motor Performance and when I had a loaner Quad R1T for a weekend, I didn't like the sound of the quad. They changed those motors in the G2 I believe.Motor whine is the only thing I hate about the gen1 quad. I like to drive with no music/audio. Feels like my tinnitus is acting up if I'm not driving at highway speed. It's uncomfortable to the point of being slightly painful. At least that's how my brain interprets the sound.
