Aftermarket jack

Hello All,

I was going to buy an after market tire jack so the service center will not sell anymore tirejack kits. I also saw a few after market pucks and one brand that has a custom fitting for the Rivian Jack and their Jack puck. Does anyone know if a normal 2.5 or 3 ton will work fine with the jack pucks or if there is a specific head on the jack I should look for

I don't think it would be safe to use a puck with either of those jacks.

I am very much a fan of @Mark_AZR1T and his solution. So much so that I bought a second jack because I got sick of hauling around a 100lbs floor jack that I had previously advocated.

If you want something more stable than the bottle Jack with the tall extension, look at either the Proeagle Kratos

I have provided a number of posts on this exact subject (link below). The HF 3 Ton Daytona floor jack with the 24 1/2" lift is the only floor jack you will ever need. The rear of the Rivian has more suspension droop requiring a high lift floor jack. These floor jacks are incredible.

I used either the Big Red 10T hydraulic jack with our magnetic jack pucks (we've sold thousands for a reason) for a simple tire change and the below Jack Stands or the HF 3T Daytona floor jack mentioned. Makes the job simple.

The sound of music below as the jack puck LOCKS onto the Rivian chassis.

I bought this electric one from Amazon. I haven't tried it yet but when the weather is a bit warmer, I give it a try.

In the Rivian Owner's Guide it says to use a 3 ton jack with a 23" reach. I can find lots of floor jacks on wheels that have or exceed the 23" reach, but floor jacks are mainly for use in the garage, driveway, or on some other hard surface. Besides they cannot be easily carried in an R1S.

I have not been able to find a more portable jack that can be easily carried in the vehicle that has a 23" reach. I would not care whether it is a bottle jack, scissor, or some other type as long as it is very portable and has the 23" minimum reach.

Has anyone found one?

I'm in the same situation. I bought EVSportline's jack kit last week, only to find out after receiving it that it doesn't go high enough to lift the rear off the ground when in the highest suspension setting (per Rivian's guidance for jacking the truck).

I just bought a bottle jack for a Mercedes Sprinter off ebay that has 24" of jack height with a double ram design. I think it's a 3.5T jack. The top has a saddle thing that I will need to remove or modify, but that should be easy. I should have the jack this weekend, I will post an update once I have it and confirm it works (or not!)

Yes!

It goes to about 25" with the top completely screwed in. If you screw the top out, you get another ~3" for about 28" total. No problem jacking the rear of the truck in the highest suspension setting/jack mode. The only catch is the top of the jack has a saddle thing you'll need to modify. It's attached with a spring pin, so it's easy to remove. I have a metal lathe, so I put the saddle on there and machined it down to a cylinder that just fits inside the pucks I use. Perfect setup.

It's a 3.5T jack, but it was effortless to jack the truck up. Seems to be very well made (I think it's made in germany? Not sure). If you look for Mercedes Sprinter Jack on ebay, there are a bunch.

Tossed 'em all in the spare tire area since that's the only place in my truck not filled with tools. Already have a bunch of plugs. As the old saying goes, better to have 'em and not need 'em than need 'em and not have 'em, right? Knowing how to plug a tire has definitely saved my a** a few times with my old trucks.

Also, is it good or bad that I rely on these forums for most of my Rivian accessory purchase decisions? LOL. ?

I've wondered why there is limited discussion about using the lower control arms with a floor jack instead of the body/frame locations. I lifted a back corner up to make sure my spare wheel fit and lifting by the frame pushed everything so high in the air that it looks very unsafe for any purpose.
