We’ve had our R1T now for seven months now and have driven it about 6k miles. Here are some thoughts.
  • The seats are comfortable!
  • The quad pack motors are unbelievable, even when towing a 10k trailer.
  • The handling and acceleration are amazing.
  • We love the regen braking.
What needs improvement… RJ, please feel free to copy other manufacturers with some of their ideas!

  • The camp speaker is useless. Mine sits on a shelf in my office. In the truck it beeps all day long. How do you shut the thing up when it is in the truck???
  • The proximity locking at home does not work. I don’t want it to lock the truck at home in a locked garage. You can set that feature, and it works for a day or two, then resorts back to locking and unlocking when it feels like it. How hard can this be to fix??? Yes, I've complained about this. No, I'm not driving an hour away for someone to "look at a module". The map correctly shows where the truck is, down to the parking bay...
  • Please copy BMW and adjust the right mirror toward the ground when in reverse. Sure, with all these cameras you don’t need that, but when the sun is behind you can’t see the screens because of the glare. And copy Elon WRT turning on left or right cameras if by any chance you ever decide to use your left or right turn signal.
  • Put the clock and outside air temp in front of ME, not the passenger. The clock is so small you have to turn your head and refocus your eyes to see it. Not everyone who has a Rivian is under 40. Or 50. Or 60…. See attached picture of a proper instrument display. Notice the clock and temp....
  • Allow us to use Waze or Google maps. PLEASE. I’ll pay for that privilege.
  • Towing a trailer. This needs to be addressed. I tow a 10k trailer. It weighs more than the truck. When regen braking comes on the truck needs to send power to my trailer brakes, otherwise when it is wet/slippery the trailer will push the truck around and jackknife the trailer…. I don’t want to be fidgeting around to push some button to activate my trailer brakes… it has to be autonomous. I’m posting this on the forum to put it out there. It is a liability for Rivian that should be a priority to fix.
Thanks for listening to my rant!!

I've never heard the camp speaker make noise. Wonder if yours has an issue. Also for the proximity locking issue, you might try doing a software restart (left and right most buttons on the steering wheel for 10-15 seconds) or a full restart (left button on steering wheel + hazard lights for 10 seconds). That has fixed some odd behavior for me in the past, including issues with hotspots, PAAK, and navigation.

When you’re in tow mode, have you adjusted your trailer brake gain? I have mine set at 4 for a 7000# trailer. Your trailer should not be pushing you around.

If you're not willing to drive for an hour to get service, then I suggest you sell, regardless of all your other issues. Just being blunt and to the point. If you aren't willing to let them fix it because it's an hour away is on you. You should have considered the distance prior to your purchase. Heck, when I finalized mine, the closest actual SC was 4-1/2 to 5 hours away.

Camp speaker beeping - perhaps there is something wrong with it, oh, yeah, you won't drive to get it fixed....

Mirrors/cameras - these things could be coming in future updates... (don't have to drive for this one, just be patient)

Trailer braking - I tow 2-3x's a week. Some heavy 8k+ some lighter 5k, 2k. I've had zero issues with the trailer brakes. Perhaps you need to adjust the gain? It's that button on the trailer screen with the +/-.

Really though. Your first comment that you won't drive an hour to have something inspected/fixed, just is not the right attitude for a first run manufacturer. Not trying to be an @ss, just being real. (I guess some will say a real @ss)

I totally agree with you on the temp and time display. They need to be closer to the driver. Every time I need to check the outside temperature or the current time I get slightly annoyed because they are not right in front of me and I have to turn my head to the right to look for them.

Turn signal cameras have been confirmed and are coming.

Outside of the camp speaker and PaaK issue, most of the things on your list would fall into the category of preferences. I understand people feel strongly about their preferences - it's the American way - but IMO owning a vehicle is always a compromise of preferences. We get some or most of what we want and have to live without other things. Only you can decide how much that bothers you.

If you want them to attempt to fix the actual issues, you will have to give them a chance to do so and drive to the service center unless they offer you a mobile appointment.

Next week I will drive 45 minutes to the service center for my 7500 mile maintenance and tire rotation. They offered me a mobile appointment but my garage is too small so my only option is to go to them. Oh well ?‍♂

The screen glare can be reduced by installing the TWRaps matte finish screen protectors. I have had mines in since July 2022 and they are great.

More moving things are more broken things. There's a reason I turned off auto-fold, especially in winter.

Towing a trailer. This needs to be addressed. I tow a 10k trailer. It weighs more than the truck.
Is this based on experience or just a trailer flex?

I get that this is a "quit complaining" type of comment, but I disagree.

I don't want to interrupt music or wake sleeping passengers just to get the time. There's a lot of wasted space on the driver screen that I would like Rivian to use to display more information like time, temp, next navigation turn street/exit name, trip miles per kwh. I don't need the graphic display of cars, trucks and people around me that I can see out the window.

Also, I don't want to enable Alexa. I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't want Amazon recording everything I say in the car.

I love the s*** out of my R1S and Rivian. And I look forward to them using that screen better.

it is based on experience, although I have not jack-knifed my trailer with the R1T, but if I'm hauling anything over 5,000 pounds I'll pull it with something else.

I know the time and temperature on the other screen are annoying. The good thing is, it can be fixed/updated with a software update.

My annoyance is the Spotify application. My wife and I have 100% opposite tastes in music. I am a metal, classic rock person and she is a mellow music person. It would be nice to have the Spotify account attached to the PaaK so that when I get in I don't have to log her out (or she logs me out) and then log back in.

Speaking of Spotify, I would love to have the "play" screen that is on the passenger side be able to move it to the driver's side. I am a big guy....6'2" and I have to lean over if I have the MAP displayed and I want to forward through commercials or pause it.

Agreed completely here... maybe have the account attached to the driver profile, so its seemless
