Any Update to RAN pay or free?

They do share power. Their normal 6-pedestal setup has 2 banks of 3 chargers. Each bank can do a total of 300kW.

This permit got posted yesterday and it was interesting that it had 2 chargers per bank rather than 3. Curious if this is site specific or if we will see more of this in the future.

Good to see! I think 2 chargers per bank makes more sense, but I can understand why they might do 3 at some sites where they anticipate lower traffic on average but the potential for some brief surges.

Just charged on Wednesday evening at 10:15pm at the RAN Station in Sacramento at the REI and it was FREE.

I have charged at the Manteca RAN station by Bass Pro and it was also free.

When we picked up our R1T in May, the guide told us that the FREE charging ended on April 30th. I was bummed at first, but then a week later, my Brother-in-law that also has an R1T went to the one in Sacramento and said it was still free. So, I have charged there 3 times and the Manteca one 2 times and they are free!

I’m sure we will all get a firm notification when the complimentary sessions end. They have not provided us any fee or subscription details yet, seems like that would need to drop as part of the announcement.

Never thought of that, but you are probably right. I hope if and when they do, there is some sort of membership for Rivian owners to get a cheaper kW rate than the general public. First, they would have to install more RANs.

The 2 I stop at (mentioned in my post above) are at Bass Pro and REI. Talk about a great marketing idea. Get a deal struck with Bass or REI (or Sportsman, Dicks, Scheels etc). They would bring in more money because people who generally use those chargers are the ones who would use those stores.

There are so many potential boring reasons why RAN is still free...

The team working on the billing software could be behind schedule, or the billing project got deprioritized for something else.

Rivian could be waiting to see what Electrify America is going to charge when the move away from standardized pricing to ensure they are competitive with Tesla and EA while not leaving money on the table.

They could be waiting until they open their own network to other brands and there's lots of coordination with the announcements around this.
