Yup. But at least it can be orderly. The Ford owners do have some basis to complain because of how Ford did this (a free-for-all, not announced ahead of time). If Rivian defines a logical sequence ahead of time then sticks to it, then IMO the only complaints will be from selfish and entitled people.
I actually prefer the Ford approach because it requires the owner to initiate it, and the process automatically confirms you are a valid owner by using your Ford credentials.

People who want it and care the most, because they are paying attention, got in line first. Sure people are complaining, but I think it is because they felt entitled to be closer to the front of the line, jealous they didn't act as fast as others, and maybe a little selfish because they would rather complain instead of ordering the A2Z adapter.

I doubt a process that isn't order based like the Ford one will work any better. I can see all kinds of problems if Rivian tries to send them out to people who didn't request one and don't know it is coming. And man, would I be unhappy if a bunch of adapters got mailed to people who will never use them when I will.

I think we'd also be better off if they charged a subsidized fee for the adapter...$50 seems about enough to dissuade people from ordering one if they have no use for it. It's hard to resist ordering things that are free regardless of need which is why I have 150 covid tests in my closet.

Here we go again.

No, of course no one has gotten their adapter yet.

Do you have an official source for your claim that adapaters would start shipping in March?
Rivian has on several occasions said “March”, but they didn’t necessarily specify which March

They could very easily send email to every Rivian account holder which pretty accurately represents the owners to confirm continued ownership, address etc….like they did when manual tonneau covers became available

Take a closer look at that post, note that it says the adapters will ship out after the sites are added in our vehicles. That hasn't happened yet.
Yes but that could have come in the last OTA without being switched “on” or could be sent via the next OTA….i can confirm that as currently stands, Tesla supercharger sites are not visible in Rivian map/navigation excepting magic dock locations which might be (there aren’t any near me to test out).

100%. In fact, I think Rivian should make money on each one they send out. They can't afford to eat the cost they look like they are going to eat. Seriously, I want them to survive, and handouts to rich people is not a good path to survival.

Saw a post on Facebook about someone with Rivian charging at a non-magic dock supercharger with a Ford adapter and an A2Z adapter. The speculation is Rivian making an announcement sometime next week, or potentially after a Tesla app update to reflect the available chargers for Rivian vehicles (basically what shows up when you filter for a Mach-e or Lightning).

EDIT:
Looks like RivianTrackr also posted a video on non-magic dock charging success as well.

I took delivery of a new R1S at the beginning of March, and the delivery person confirmed that the adapters would "begin to be mailed out by April." So, some should start receiving these by April, and of course possibly this month, but I assume with over 70,000 Rivian's in service, it may take a few months to ship them out to all current owners on top of adding them with new deliveries.

I just talked to someone yesterday from New Mexico who went from feeling like he needed to change his address to Phoenix to get an R1S to having Rivian call him and offer a selection of R1S's that he could choose from. They also promised they would give him a tesla adapter with the truck. Which bodes well I guess.

Hey, I noticed that the Tesla app has a setting to show you have an NACS for your Rivian. I flipped the switch and,,,,,,,

no change.

Still just magic dock chargers showing.. ?

Tesla SC showing available to Rivian owners with adapter on Rivian Nav and slightly behind in update on app. Rivian navigation shows large network along Florida Panhandle- same as used on Tesla, but phone app has not fully refreshed. Excited about the developments. Looking forward to the next step of receiving an adapter from Rivian. Btw- the A2Z website seems to be down- possibly a lot of traffic this morning! Making progress!

Interesting. That may be the only way to get the official adapter within the next two years. I may need to trade in my R1S for a new one in that case.

Supercharger access is available as of this morning for Rivians. If you don't want to wait for an adapter, there are companies that are selling them for $200 (A2Z, Lectron).

I think it will be quite a while before you get your free one from Rivian.
