I actually prefer the Ford approach because it requires the owner to initiate it, and the process automatically confirms you are a valid owner by using your Ford credentials.Yup. But at least it can be orderly. The Ford owners do have some basis to complain because of how Ford did this (a free-for-all, not announced ahead of time). If Rivian defines a logical sequence ahead of time then sticks to it, then IMO the only complaints will be from selfish and entitled people.
People who want it and care the most, because they are paying attention, got in line first. Sure people are complaining, but I think it is because they felt entitled to be closer to the front of the line, jealous they didn't act as fast as others, and maybe a little selfish because they would rather complain instead of ordering the A2Z adapter.
I doubt a process that isn't order based like the Ford one will work any better. I can see all kinds of problems if Rivian tries to send them out to people who didn't request one and don't know it is coming. And man, would I be unhappy if a bunch of adapters got mailed to people who will never use them when I will.
