The new Dual Motor LFP $69,900 trim appears to be the bargain of the bunch. A lot of improvements under the skin. It appears that the color options are a carry over from 2024. This was a miss by Rivian IMO.

I think the refresh was well done. Rivian must have started on the project years ago with over 600 changes, design, engineering, gearing up vendors, certifications, etc.

Hell yeah! Storm Blue with the blackout package looks killer.

Nope. I’m good with gen 1 for now. I want to see how much the follow through is with software updates. Lots of empty promises and delays - text messaging in April 2023, streaming video May 2023, blind spot many many months ago. Were supposedly coming s00n. I’m mostly happy with what I have so don’t get me wrong.

*Also have a R2 on preorder
Me too

Nope. The R1 has been interesting, but the Sierra Denali is much more truck.

I predict slow sales for the refreshed 2025 R1.

With the $69,900 Dual Motor "loss leader" aside, I don't see many 2022-2024 Quad Motor owners purchasing a 2025 Tri or new Quad due to pricing and negligible exterior changes.

Agreed, it will be leases for the most part which I wish they did a while back but they couldn't produce them fast enough to begin with. Many will take the leap when Gen 3 comes out but to get killed on depreciation right now with high interest rates is just nuts. I was bummed seeing Gen 2 but would've been really bummed if I just bought a 2024 within the last few months.

I’m puzzled as to why they are putting lots of Dual Maxes into the shop but there’s a total lack of Gen2 PDMs. It’s just software, after all. (And seeing only 3 Gen 1 PDM configs available.)

Also, relatively few have the dynamic roof or premium audio, let alone both. Shouldn’t they be loading them up to catch people on the more expensive end of the indifference curve?

Am I missing something?

I agree with your points. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for those who bought or leased just before Gen 2 was announced. From the discussions on YouTube/X and social media, the gap between Gen 1 and Gen 2 seems to be widening daily.

On that note, I consider myself quite fortunate. My delivery/pick-up date for the Quad-motor was less than 24 hours from the announcement! In a bit of a panic, I called several people, read up quickly, and ultimately decided to go with the 2025 Tri-Motor/Quad-Motor reservations after consulting my trusted Rivian guide,

For more details, check out my thread: I canceled my 2024 Quad-Motor R1S pick-up tomorrow for the 2025 Tri-Motor Ascent Quad-Motor.

Some, even with knowledge, chose to stick with the 2024 model after the announcement. Ultimately, it depends on your needs and timing. For me, I'd rather get the lowest spec 2025 edition over the top spec 2024 any day. I've done extensive research and watched numerous blogs, and from what I can see, (again) the differences between 2024 and 2025 will only become more pronounced.
