Hello friends - I will be away from home for 2 months so need advise how shall I handle situation leaving Rivian at home.

1) Shall I charge full and hope that battery drain will bring it down to 200 miles (Approx 120 miles drained) so still in running condition when I am back.

2) Leave charger connected and change the charge cap to 20% and let charger charge whenever it goes below 20%?

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Plug it in, set your max charge to 70%, and enjoy your trip. The truck will take care of itself.

Leave it plugged in and set to 70%. I wouldn't personally do the 20% in case your charger has some sort of a malfunction.

What if you are leaving it for 6 weeks at a location where you cannot leave it plugged in (no access to charger)? Is it ok then to charge it at around 85%? Assuming phantom drain at 1.5% per day, that will still leave just over 20% SOC when we get back from our trip. Is this ok? Or is there a better way?

This is one of the situations where I don’t think it would hurt to just charge it to 100%. The chances of damaging charging occasionally to 100 are low since there’s a buffer and the entire battery isn’t used anyways. It’s better than risking the battery dropping down to zero before you return. I’d turn off things like gear guard too to save on phantom drain.

Good advice. I agree that charging to 100% in these cases is ok. Also, might want to turn off gear guard to save power. My 8 month old R1 only uses 1%/day. I don't see why your's would use more. Do a dry run for a few days and see.

I am leaving our R1S for about 5 months. A friend will occasionally come by and drive for a day or two. I set the charge to 50%. I checked the other day, and it was down to 36% and it would not charge. It was scheduled for early morning. took it off schedule and it would still not charge. Had buddy go by and he unplugged and re-plugged and it started charging.

So I think if you are leaving it it is good idea to check.

Can you plug into a 110 outlet? If so, I would do that and set the charge limit to 70%.

Just to follow up and provide a data point for people with similar situations: My whole family went for an extended vacation abroad. We parked the R1S at 73% SOC. Gear Guard was on the whole time. No access to any type of charger. We came back after 37 days and we found it at 32% SOC. Simple math indicates a vampire drain rate of 1.1% SOC/day. Not bad at all.

We left the Rivian at home in the garage for six weeks last year. We plugged it in to a 110 volt outlet with the portable charger. We set the charger to a max of 50%. We had our son check on it weekly. This worked well with no issues.

I like using the 110 volt outlet. I figured that less voltage had a lesser chance of mishap. Charging at 1 or 2 miles an hour is just fine in this situation.

Since i haven't seen it listed already on this thread: Try shipping mode.
Shipping Mode has been neutered to the point that it doesn't help lower VD at all any longer.

You can try "Service Mode" and "Camp Mode" both at the same time, that may help a small amount.

Lithium batteries do best in long term storage when at a 50% SoC. I would plug it in and set the limit there for long storage For minimal battery wear.
