Bump on an old thread but my speaker will NOT charge in the vehicle. I have to charge via standard USB. Any permanent solutions?

Went to use the camp speaker in my garage yesterday and discovered it was dead. Plugged it in via USB and it works and charges fine. I double checked the docking area and there's no obstruction and the contact springs are all working inside.

It worked fine when I got the truck so I'm wondering if maybe the update caused this? Anyone else seeing the issue?
The truck only trickle charges the speaker to keep it topped off. The initial charge has to be from an outlet, and again if you use/drain it.

Top it off as in it should be fully charged when you actually want to use it? Because that’s not happening, for me at least.

in position for a full week while using the vehicle the last two times, only to pull it out and find it won’t even power on unless plugged in.

What seemingly has worked for me is docking/undocking 3-4 times over about 10-15 seconds. According to service, this wakes the campspeaker from a hibernation of sorts, and will start to accept and charge via the dock. So far I have used it on 2 camping trips since and it's been fully charged when grabbing it each time.

I sure do miss the camp speaker charge percentage on the dash!

I really don't understand why this isn't a thing anymore. Why go through the trouble of implementing it, only to abandon it completely?

So I’m trying to understand the current software expectation. My camp speaker never shows charge status / percentage when docked but the imagery/icons suggest it recognizes that the speaker is docked and it does not say anything about redocking it. Should it show charge status when docked on the current software (gen 2 R1s).

It used to in 2023, but hasn't for a number of updates, unfortunately.
