Charge Port Noise

I’m checking to find out if the charge door on my R1S is sticking upon opening. I hear a pretty loud pop when the charge port door opens. There is also a mechanical sound unlocking the charge port door and the pop is almost on top of it. Turn your volume up.

Is this normal or should I have service check it out?

Speaking only for myself, mine does not make that sound. It just has the mechanical hum sound of the door opening.

**edit: There is a "click" when it latches or first opens, but nothing as loud as what is in that video.

I’m not a service expert.

mine made this noise, it’s rubbing slightly when you open. I twisted the door and that made it go away. If you look at the mechanism that opens you’ll see that it might no be fully opened.

I'm not sure where my video went, so I'm loading it again.

Mine did this. First service appt fixed it with a "small adjustment to the charger door". Eventually came back and fixed on a second visit, remaining gone for now. Time will tell, but both times were only a few minutes to adjust something.

Does anyone else wish they had stuck with the simple design on the other side? While I initially loved the cool factor of the current design I do worry that some day when I am in the middle of nowhere it will jam closed or open and I won’t be able to charge or drive.

Mine had a pop on closing since we got it and I just put in the ticket for it and they adjusted the alignment along with some other small things during a mobile service visit. Have had no issues since and that was about 3 months ago.

That is loud. My R1T doesn’t make that noise, 14k so far .

I sent the video to Rivian through the app. Got a call about an hour later and was told it was item 6 on my SO.
