We got the FOB and 2 cards. The FOB has been sitting on the keyholder at home since we got home from picking our R1T up in May of this year. I carry the card in my wallet....makes it more convienient when you have to valet your vehicle. We use the PaaK 100% of the time.

I carry the fob all the time usually, and a card in my wallet. The phone is paired also and works right now.

I learned (due to ours failing) that the phone, card(s) inside & out reader, all run off a small bluetooth module in the driver door handle. That failed and we couldn't use phone, or any cards to get in or start. Sucked. BUT, the fob still works as runs off a different module.

Just FYI as if that fails, the fob is a backup, but not cards/phone.

Phone-as-a-Key. Nerds like us use the abbreviation similar to IT services like IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service) or SaaS (Software-as-a-Service), PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service), etc...

Being a person who always has to have back-ups, I always have all three on my person. It drives Opal (the R1T) crazy when I go in and out of the garage, but it keeps her on her toes.

That's the same place that SuEllyn came up with Opal as she changes her blue hues with the light.

Paak. Card is a must have backup because randomly, you will be asked to present it.

The fob has a purpose. I use it when I need to get something out the my R1 in the garage after leaving my phone and wallet down stairs in my office. Fob is close by, in a keysafe.

Been there. Check your compressor in the rear.

I just went through the same situation. Check the rear compressor in the truck bed. When you open up the flap when the truck is unlocked, is the power on? I was told that when the Bluetooth module dies in the driver door handle it usually takes out the fuse shared with the aux air compressor. When the Mobil visit tech showed up he went to it and showed me how mine was dead. A new driver door handle/module fixed the key cards. Oddly after that when the latest software upgrade was pushed through it allowed my phone to pair as a key for the first time in a month.
Interesting, my compressor does not work as well. Neither does the lock for the gear guard cable.

Key fob never worked 100% for me so now it's PAAK (without proximity lock/unlock) and key card in the wallet as backup. Learned to look for the lights to flash when I approach which tells me my phone is connected via bluetooth and pushing the unlock button in the app will actually unlock the car. I still find it pretty rediculous the fob doesn't use a standard frequency.

I loved my keyfob when they presented it to me on the day I picked up my R1T. It was unique and loved the yellow color. However I am starting to notice it's too bulky in my jean pocket and it sometimes presses against my thigh when I walk. I also carry keycard in my wallet. Is it totally safe just carrying the keycard without the keyfob? I am nervous that I am in middle of nowhere with my R1T and I can't get the car started because I only have keycard. Do you guys just carry keycard alone? Any bad experience with that approach?
Paak with the keycard in my wallet. The fob is cool but bulky. Went surfing the other day with just the card in my trunks and had no issue

What's the difference that you see between PaaK and the FOB? What security weakness would Pin-to-Drive solve for PaaK that doesn't also exist for the FOB?
If I drop or leave my PAAK somewhere, someone could possibly find my truck and drive off with it. The phone is large and doesn't fit in some shorts, etc.. so I carry it which means it's easy to leave behind if you're preoccupied, etc. The fob is small and fits in any size pant pocket so not much chance of losing it.. .so no need for PIN to drive if you're only using the fob/key card exclusively.

We have the PIN to drive feature enabled on our Model 3 and you need to enter the PIN to drive regardless if you enter using the fob, key card or PAAK. It's a great feature to have as an option IMO.. and as an option, of course you don't need to enable it if you prefer not to use it.

I also have PIN feature on my Tesla but I disabled it. Although it enhances the security aspect it's additional step. When I get in the car I just want to drive it away not having to enter PIN code every single time. When you keep doing that for a few days you get tired of it sooner or later.

Time to stop wearing those 'skinny jeans'... lol

I use my fob mostly with the proximity locking as default and my wristband maybe 2% of the time for certain activities. I also carry the keycard and have PAAK as a backup.
I wish I had the wristband. I usually do phone with keycard in wallet but when I run it is only the phone. Since I have had to use the keycard when my phone has been died due to hectic time with not enough charging I do worry that one of these days I'll look at my battery level and think, hmm, that should be enough for a long run while listening to my audio book and be wrong. Likewise for kayaking and rafting.

Had my R1S like 3-4 mos. Never used anything but phone as a key since delivery. Tbh I don’t even know where I put the keyfob or cards ??? (I’m pretty sure they’re in my safe). I daily drive it and the phone has worked flawlessly.

I use the Paak 90% and I have the card in my wallet, just in case.
