I find there location on the R1 much more helpful than where my Y has them on center console. I almost never use in Tesla but use all the time on Rivi.

I find the new side camera views which show up when a turn signal is activated distracting and pretty much useless. In order to see anything smaller than a car (e.g. someone walking or a cyclist) one has to pay way to much attention to the image. Can someone tell me why they are supposed to be useful? I would find it much more helpful if the light on the mirrors were more obvious when someone is in the blind spot, similar to what a 2019 Subaru Forester does.
Nope. I like them.

I love it. Great addition. Like others have said, you can turn it off

It's just more situational awareness. I can't say that I consciously "use" them but more like a sweep of my eyes that includes them, the mirror, and over the shoulder. They would be MUCH more useful however if the turn signals worked like they do in the Tesla. You don't get only three flashes, which is way too short. The Tesla keeps them on until it sees you completed the lane change. You get more time to signal and to see the camera.

I happened to have caught someone on an incumbent bike
No worries, incumbents are sometimes hard to displace.

Waiting for my 2025 R1S delivery. My Ioniq 6 has the side cameras - very good image quality.

But I don't use them because I have to divert attention to look at them, then it takes a moment to orient to what I'm seeing (maybe that's just me).

Love them! Like the extra spot to scan when making lane change and the off label use as reminder signal is on.

I like that they show me how close I am to the lines (turning lanes) and curbs (parking lots). Better confidence I'm not about to curb or cut a corner short, while also allowing me to be a better driver for everyone else (I never had an issue with my truck in curbing or getting too close to the lines, but now I can confidently get closer and stay out of everyone else's way or give them more breathing room.)

I don't really use them for changing lanes - don't find them to be much help. But when sitting at a light, waiting to make a right turn, it's a nice check for bikes and pedestrians coming up on the right-rear.

They are fine and get the job done. I don't need HD cameras for that purpose. I used it all the time on our trip to Boston on the MASS Turnpike.

Don't know if already addressed, but why did they use the 360 mirror cam for this instead of the camera that's in the fender that faces perfectly backwards, doesn't have image distortion, and won't get bugs on it? Mirror ones are terrible (7pm, not even dark out).

Saved me an accident today. Was in three lane freeway. I was in merging lane from the right.. I was about to enter the right lane and this dude crossed two lans of traffic to exit on the right, right in front of me. My blinker was on and the camera on I saw what he was doing. I held back and saved an unneccssry mishap. Side cameras are great. I love the new camera configuration. BTW, I love my R1T. Not sure what’s wrong with you people.

Really good for lane changes in heavy traffic where the lane you’re in has high probability to stop at any moment and you’re trying to merge into a lane that’s moving faster. Allows you to check the blind spot without fully diverting your vision from what’s in front of you.

I think it makes driving in traffic safer and less stressful, personally.

I find them useful for verifying that my blind spot is clear. I always used to glance out the back but our RTT now blocks my view, so the turn signal camera view has been a big help. I don’t find them distracting because they are usually hidden from view given where I usually have my hands on the wheel, so I have to intentionally look there to catch the view before I change lanes.
