Tried the Orvis ramp but dogs weren’t having it. Which steps are working for you and your pups?

I have never had luck with dogs and ramps. They all seem to be ok with stairs but not ramps, even when they NEED the ramp for their old dog legs.

My sister’s golden got flat as a pancake and wouldn’t move. Sophie, the black dog pictured was a bit more brave. It was suggested I keep my old SUV just for the dogs. ??

They never make it easy! Sometimes if they are very food motivated you can lure them all the way up the ramp and into the vehicle before they realize what is happening, but ‘the pancake’ is more common :CWL:

ICE only :(
Haven’t tried them with my R1S yet, but a design very similar to these has worked well for years with our now senior 75lb Spinone. Might be a high last step into the back, and will take a little training, but they should work with an R1S. Passenger doors should be pretty easy.

Off of a recommendation from another thread. It is however comparatively very expensive and also way chunkier but it's pretty serious set of stairs.

My 2 dogs in the end like going in the back through the passenger side door. With the second row seat forward there’s enough room for them and it’s not a jump. I live in Brooklyn and finding space to use any kind of ramp or steps is not practical so glad they can go in the side. They’re big but not old yet. In a few years I might have to come with another solution.

Any R1S owners out there use this?
https://twistep.com/

If so could you post a review?

Thanks!
I have not tried this myself but it does not look like this would work as intended with the R1S. It seems the rear of the R1S may be too sloped for the step to be rotated under the bumper and out of the way. And presumably we would need the pickup version of the twistep to clear the tail gate which means it would stick out pretty far when not rotated out of the way. Perhaps the SUV extension bracket (if compatible with the pickup twistep) would drop it low enough to allow it to rotate underneath the bumper? And no idea what the impact on range might be.

I just posted in the R1T dog thread, and looked this thread up, figured I would give it a bump.

https://www.petloader.com/product/pet-loader-aluminum/

The 5-step works perfect for tailgate loading, This one is lighter than the ABS one so I can lift easily with one hand and set-up in probably 20 seconds. Expensive but solid and reliable. Only downside is that it doesn't seem too usable for 2nd row door entry because of the angles and support for the top step. Only works well for tailgate entry, but does work extremely well for that purpose.

I try not to complain much but really, people. I opened this thread solely to see pictures of your dogs. (I like dogs but I don't have a dog.) There’s just the one dog photo.

Disappointed!
