Why not just add the bloody $100/yr (if that is the price) for 3 years; to the price of the car? Don't think most will notice.
I hope it's just $100/yr. That's cheap for unlimited data these days. I pay $20/month for the same plan on our Jeep plus another $25/month for the Jeep Connect telematics.

About $100 per year would be very cheap relative to the competition. I was expecting somewhere around $15 per month.
Verizon is charging me $20 a month on my Kia EV6 - but the Rivian hot spot spoiled me I had to pay .....

I just picked my R1S up a month ago and they told me that we will get 1 year free of Data.

A weather radar overlay included in the pay plan would be awesome.

Well, they also stated free RAN charging was ending this past April, and well...its still free. Guess we shall see...
Maybe I’m just lucky, but I got charged a $5.00 session fee and $0.25/kWh yesterday at the RAN chargers in Westcliffe, CO. The session fee seemed a bit unreasonable since the charger was a slow one. I got just under 13kWh in 68 minutes so the session fee was the majority of my charge.

Just an FYI. Not a RAN station and the fee is going to the operator not Rivian. There is a Rivian waypoint charger like this in Prineville, OR that has a ridiculous session fee as well.

Those are Waypoints, not RAN chargers so I think those are up to the location provider whether there is a fee or not. Crested Butte waypoints also charge for usage.

Ah, thanks for the clarification! Was my first experience at any Rivian-branded charger. I’ll need to find a RAN charger while they’re still free.

I really wish people would stop saying "I expect to pay $15/$20/etc.. per month". Tesla is clearly the leader in this field and they charge $100/year. Please do not give Rivian any hope that we would accept paying more than what Tesla charges for the clearly inferior Rivian service.

Without their connectivity package.. you will still get updates and your maps will still work. Lice traffic data will not work, but according to many, it's piss poor at this time even with full connectivity.

I am hoping that Rivian will match Tesla for this basic service. $100/per year will probably work. Much more than that, and I will drop it.

We have unlimited data with T-mobile so, when it ends, we probably won’t subscribe.
I wish Rivian would have made the SIM chip replaceable with other carriers.. our phone plan we get 4 lines but only have 3 devices (my phone, wife’s phone and daughters), so we are wasting the othe line. Why do these car companies think everyone wants AT&T….we had it, it sucked

That is one thing I think they should do is include at least a year of free data. This will help convince people they want it and give them a chance to enjoy it.

I agree if they price it over Tesla then it is a ripoff and people will see it as that. I'm one of the people who says the live traffic is garbage. If the price was over $100/year no way will I sign up. At $100 or less then I can justify it a bit more especially if I don't have the upgrade my cell phone plan to have a hotspot.

I agree I really need Verizon as a few places I go right now only have them and no T Mobile or AT&T. Granted the Rivian has a better antennae than a phone so I'll see if it works in a month or two.

Lets be clear about what we are talking about here. Is it 1) the WIFI/Hotspot thing (which I have never used) or 2) the cellular connectivity that they truck needs to function while on the road and not connected to my home wifi?

I do not have the email yet.
