interesting how your Dual Motor half shafts got replaced with the Enduro G where others including myself last month have gotten the Enduro F. There was a mention that the G was for Quad's but perhaps not
Quads are not under recall, and are a different part number.

I got the F revision on Sept 18th. So those are faulty and now being replaced with G?

PT00087074-F are my Sept 18th installed Enduro front half-shafts.
My truck was in the SC on October 10 and received the Gs...

The air shocks clunky, while the half-shafts chatter.

I understand the half-shafts, but the air shocks seem like they shouldn't be noisy.
Neither should make noticeable noises to the driver. It's either poor design or poor manufacturing. At this product position within the market, it's not excusable IMO.

The chatter in the half-shaft is due to the middle linkage sliding in and out. As for the air shocks, I'm drawing a blank. Perhaps the pistons allows for more movement that what's typical.

I just made another appointment for front half shaft noise. I don’t remember how many appointments I’ve had for this noise but they have been replaced once this year. Other appointments were tightening bolts etc for the fix but the noise always comes back.

I’m having a hard time justifying keeping this vehicle past warranty.

The Rivian has more height adjustment than almost any other vehicle at around 14.5in. So, I get why the halfshafts need to grow/shrink.

My point is, it's either poor design or poor manufacturing tolerances that makes it rattle. I've used low cost PTO's on the back of farm equipment that doesn't rattle like these. Same base mechanism. This problem has been solved for decades.

Rivian is positioned as a premium vehicle, both on cost and capability. This level of manufacturing/assembly isn't acceptable at this level.

Is yours a dual or quad? My 2023 Dual got the F’s last month to stop the clicking
I have a 2025 (Gen 2) Dual Large. I wasn't experiencing any issues with the truck. I took it in for the 'Headlight' recall and my service advisor told me that the half shafts were also under recall and they wanted to replace them while I waited. I have noticed a smoother ride since the replacement.

I have the dual.

Had the half-shafts replaced with the defective parts on Sept 18th. The (F) is now replaced with the (G). They came out with this notice like a week after I had my replacement done.

I have the (F)

I might just drive on these until they start wearing out or making any noise. Maybe pull the trigger at 59,999 miles.

Anyone with the new (G) half-shafts able to weigh in on how they sound? Any quieter than the previous version. Chatter?

I read through most of this thread because I believe I have the half-shaft issue but wanted to confirm. My experiences relate to two things,

  • when driving over speed bumps I often hear a knocking noise.
  • while driving on the highway there are sections of road with a lot of dips. I hear knocking noises as the suspension adjusts over these imperfections in the road.

Are both these occurrences related to half-shafts?

My last service appointment was to fix moisture in the rear tail light. I checked my invoice and I noticed this was added,

Perform FSAM-1507 Tighten hub to knuckle fasteners in 4 locations. Is this at all related to half-shafts?

I’m going to schedule my 7500 mile service and would like to request the half-shaft be checked. Will Rivian check this type of issue under the 7500 mile service visit?

Seems strange how some get the G yet the recall says to use the F. I think my originals from 2023 were C. I’m quite pleased with the fix and we’ll see if it holds out. Service told me it’s under the 8yr drivetrain warranty so I have time

does the notice not say that the Required Part is the F? Not sure where this G part is coming from

I think the "required part" is the part that has to be replaced. The replacement part is not mentioned.

I have the G versions and it’s nice and quiet. I bought my R1S used this Spring and for the first time since I’ve owned the car it feels and sounds like an EV - silent and smooth. Crossing my fingers that the knock doesn’t come back but so far so good.

What exactly were you hearing? The clunks or chatter?

We have a chart of Rivian suspension sounds and explanations on this forum somewhere.

Clunks, Chatter, scrapes, howls, pops, whistles? LOL
