Wait.. do you have the standard jack pucks or the much taller jack pucks that came with an EV specific bottle jack for EV’s?

I have the standard Jack Pucks, shown in the post above by the manufacturer. I didn’t realize I would also need an XL or scrap wood to do roadside repairs.

So wait, are you telling me that the jack that comes with the R1T won't get the lift high enough to get the tire off in case of a flat on the road, let alone off road? I have the original jack pucks, and assumed that would be all i needed in case of a flat on the highway. Now i'm reading that it still may not be enough to get the tire off and a new one on. Guess i'm going to have to put more stuff in the R1T just to make sure i can change tires. Ugh!
My 2025 R1S didn’t include a jack.

Thanks for all the replies. I’m going to throw some scrap 4x4s in my R1S.

This is all a lot to figure out. For a premium car, it would be good for Rivian to make this easy on owners and just include what’s needed to do roadside tire changes and tire shop work.

Oh Puck it. Sorry, couldn't resist. I bought a 12 ton bottle jack that with the Magnetic "Jack Puck" set I bought, only one puck is needed. I tried it on the garage floor. If on the roadside the dirt is a problem, I will use 2 of the 4 pucks that came in the set to do one lift point.
The gear tunnel is good for most anything as well the rear seat storage area.
If I was on a busy freeway, I would call a tow truck, it's only money.

I tried this but found the slip off center from each other, which seems sketchy.
Sorry for the potentially unsafe advice. It looks like the Jack Puck brand pucks have large holes at the bottom to allow for shifting:

I bought some generic pucks off Amazon, and the hole at the bottom is snug with the nipple, so they don't shift when stacked.

Our Magnetic Jack Pucks are designed with a 'port' for the Big Red by Torin 10T Bottle Jack Jack, which we find to be far more practical for working on Rivian's. The pucks you picture wont work safely with a bottle jack, so I imagine you must carry a floor jack with those while on the road.

As a Rivian owner, I built these first for me, then for everyone else. We've delivered thousands to Rivian customers for a reason :).

Big Red 10T bottle jack (like everyone else was getting), set on a couple 2x4s and don't forget to unscrew it for extra lift.

I don't use pucks, I jack directly on the frame rail and/or DCE rock sliders (with a rubber pad).

Your Rivians didn't include the integrated hydraulic jack lifts?

Forgive the image quality, my new camera can be finicky with the lightning.

Harbor Freight has the Badlands off road jack often on sale for $279 and works well with a single "normal" sized jack puck. I know you can stack them (there have been a few threads on it) but in my own head it feels weird to me.

Especially at the highest (recommended) height to change out a tire, you need a jack which lifts high enough. I prioritized that vs. using different jack puck configurations (longer, stacking, etc).

The included tire change kit for the R1T is sufficient for changing a tire in normal circumstances and probably many off road cases. You don’t need to buy a jack puck or use 4x4 pieces of wood. But if you buy your own jack, then you may need extra stuff.

That’s a great use for the car jack/dollies! Mine are usually sitting with my Rx7…I have to push it into its car bay until we cut a hole for another garage door. (Original house owner thought a three bay only needed door access to two bays)

Hi Mark, I just did a 4 tire DIY rotation and on the rears I experienced some shifting when using the Torin 10T Bottle Jack + XL Puck. Not sure if it was user error but the shifting gave me pause and ended up adding backup and backup to the backup (i.e jacks stands on the arms). Better be safe than sorry.

Is there a better way to ensure the mating of this ports seats correctly?

1. Place the puck on the Rivian and then raise the jack until you make contact
2. Place the puck on the jack and raise until you make contact

Not sure if either of these would make any difference to minimize the shifting I experienced.

How are you using this dolly?

Lift tire/wheel high enough for dolly to slide under. Then remove the lugnuts and drop the wire/wheel in the dolly. Then roll around as needed ?

Getting older :CWL: and this wheel/tire combo is heavy!! This sounds like it could minimize the energy required to move around to the next location.
