That's because it's supposedly only an issue on Gen 2 vehicles. I've not seen any reports that this particular bug is affecting Gen 1 vehicles.
It, or a different bug with the same manifestations, is definitely impacting me. Not particularly cold weather (40s), but can't charge at know L2 chargers since the last update. Scroll up-thread for more details I posted.

I've got this issue with my gen 1 R1S. I was on the phone with customer support for at least a half hour late last night where they blamed my Wallbox charger, even though the charger works fine with my other two non-Rivian EV's. The support rep finally referred me to Rivian's "expert", who admitted that it was a software issue and that the batter needed to be heated to 100 degrees to make it work.

I've tried soft and hard re-boots and preconditioning the battery. The best I can get is for the vehicle to charge for about 10 minutes before I get the charge failure message. Nothing works. This sucks.

This is the first gen 1 charging issue I’ve heard of. Is this problem the same reported for gen2’s? During your 10min charge session what kWh did you get?

I charge on a 30 amp line set at a max of 24 amps. Normally, it charges at a steady 24 amps (~5.1 kw). Yesterday, during the brief 10 minute charge sessions, the charge rate would randomly fluctuate between 0 and 5 kw before it shut down with the charge error.

Read up the thread - I'm on a gen 1 and still having the same problem with free community chargers after the latest update.
Sorry, I missed your post. I tried my gen 1 a few minutes back and don’t experience this problem. Like gen 2s this must but limited to select few vehicles only. I hope you contacted Rivian.

I called them when I first experienced the problem. Like @davew, they blamed the chargers and told me to contact the owners. I've tried 5 of them so far, they're all known working presently with other vehicles, previously with Rivian, and I've been using them all consistently since 2015. They didn't all just happen to stop working on their end when Rivian updated its software...

I'll submit a ticket instead of calling and see what happens.

This is concerning because I use a Tesla wall charger and have been since ‘23 without issue. I also have a Tesla in the family. Keep us posted!

I'll update as soon as I have news to share. My home charger works fine and I tried a paid chargepoint and that worked, it seems to only be the free L2 community chargers that don't work. VERY peculiar!

this blaming the charger thing is starting to really make me frustrated. If the charger complies with the j1772 standard, and you've had a history of charging successfully, they shouldn't be relying on this as the silver bullet problem in the troubleshooting steps. Make the assumption if the charger was working, and the software recently changed, then admit it was a software problem Right off the bat.

i’m still capping at 2.7kw on a level 2 that was giving me full power in warmer weather. even when the battery is 50+, the charger is warm, and the weather is above freezing, it still won’t go above 2.7, now.

I tried charging at an EA station, and the complimentary charging was no longer active. when i called support to let them know that the update didn’t fix the problem, and the work around had been turned off, they told me RAN is the only complimentary charging now. unfortunately, the closest one of those is an hour away, and there aren’t any on the roadtrip i’m planning for this weekend. i hope it’s fixed soon.

That is extremely frustrating. I'm sorry you are having to deal with that.
