My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Was on a shakedown with a tech today after he performed some minor stuff on my truck (wind noise fixes), and during the drive, got a pretty horrible sound that he felt on the left dead-pedal (he was driving) when under regen deceleration into a right turn.

I've heard this before, but it happened twice on the drive with him. He took a look under the truck and saw nothing obvious, and gave me an ominous "I can't speculate but I do not like that noise"

I'll try to get a video / audio of it later. Anyone experienced the same? Truck had the recall work for clicking under acceleration over a year back.

Put in a ticket, looks like late April for the South SF SC...

I had clicking under acceleration/deceleration. turned out to be a broken CV boot. they replaced it and its good as new, no clicking.
look for leaking grease around the CV, likely its green (or black if its been leaking a while and covered with dirt)

mine wasn't super loud but it was noticeable so not sure if its the same thing. i actually had another clicking sound as one point and it turned out one of the bolts was loose on the front suspension so it could be that as well.

You mention the recall, and what you describe is pretty close to that issue. Mine was a clunk noise as I transitioned from acceleration to deceleration and back. As I recall it was not technically a recall but a voluntary customer satisfaction fix that involved adding a spacer to the half shaft(s). Because it involves the half shafts it could easily make different noises on different corners of the vehicle. The spacer could have fallen out.
It sounds like they are going to look at it for you. Mine was covered by warranty and pretty painless as I just had them do all the stuff in one trip.

Hi everyone. 2022 R1S Launch owner here. I've been experiencing this clanking sound/feel as well during accelerating from stop and regen kicking in. I kind of feel it in the pedal and hear (it's a bit intermittant... not always happening). Noise is worse when windows are open (definitely more audible outside).

If I switch to Conserve mode (i.e. disengage the rear wheel motors) the sound dissappears... this has gotta be a telltale sign it's a half shaft issue, right? I mean, I gotta take it in no matter what, but just want to check with the hive mind.

I've never had issues with my rear clutch disconnect being an issue, but some have, so that could be your problem.

For me, transitioning between acceleration and regen you could hear and feel the play in the half shafts. It was a bit frustrating, and more pronounced at low speeds. The route problem was fixed when the front half shafts were replaced. I also had the Front Hub Assemblies replaced at the same time, so that may have also improved the driving feel of the truck beyond just the half shaft slop.

I had a hard metal click or metal on metal breaking free sound any time I did a hard low speed turn into and out of my parking stall. It was really the only time it would do it. I attributed it to my Gen 1 welded front subframe and a broken weld rubbing.

Had it looked at along with my 36,000km service appointment and it unfortunately was a broken weld. They replaced the subframe with a cast Gen 2 front subframe retrofit and it eliminated the issue.

What's funny is that for me, switching to Conserve made it worse. A service visit did resolve it, though. They replaced the half-shafts under warranty.
