Now that we have had these tires out for a couple of winters, how do these tires handle in the snow?
I’m coming due for new tires, still on OEM Pirelli 20” Tires. These are the tires I’m planning on swapping out to. Being in southern WI we do get snow but not a ton of it.

Please let me know what you have experienced with these tires And if you recommend them. Thanks!

Same, they look much better than the Defender LTX M/S 2.

I switched from Pirelli to the Defender Platinum about 6 months ago, but I haven't used them in the snow yet. There is a post from 2022 that said they are "just ok" in the snow. I can believe that because I have wondered about the tread design. The center part doesn't look like it could grab very well in the snow and ice. Heck, I have even "barked" the Platinum tires on the road but the Pirellis never did... they just grabbed the pavement. Other than that, Discount Tire has had a difficult time balancing my set of Michelins. Discount Tire's road-pressure standard is at or below 30. Mine are now in the 8-12 range and are are really smooth on good pavement, but I can't get rid of a harmonic wapping tire sound coming from the front. Sounds like they are unbalanced or out of round but they are not. (I'm now wondering if something is not right with my front end and suspension.)

Yea, I was worried about this myself so wound up going with the MS/2s. They are silent and did great in the snow last week. They aren't the coolest to look at, but I just couldn't justify it. The Goodyear territories in the other thread look cool and are getting good reviews, but I think the MS/2s are the highest achievable blend of performance, comfort, noise, and then everything else is just trade-offs on the three.

There are a bunch of 3 Peak winter rated tires available on TireRack.com--both in on-road AT and Touring.

based on tire rack review from December, sounds like they can “work” in an inch of snow at the maximum…so I’d say that’s not a great tire for any type of snow…

I've got 18k miles on my LTX Platinums. Unfortunately they seem to be wearing really well ;). I say unfortunately because their wet weather handling isn't great. Haven't had them in snow but I would be cautious. They ride much better than the 20" Pirellis and vastly quieter, but I will never have another set. Thankfully now there are many more options than I had when the time came.
