Can I chime in here again and ask a clarifying question? I have the 20" rims, and I do not need the 20" AT tires. I would like to increase my efficiency.

Several posters in this thread suggest the Defender LTX M/S2 will be a range/efficiency improvement over stock ATs. But several users in the dedicated Defender thread suggest they get *worse* efficiency than the stock AT tires, despite being AS tires. So I'm confused: are the Defender LTX M/S2 more or less efficient than my OEM AT tires?

I have a bias towards Michelin tires. I'm wondering if I can get better efficiency with them, or do I want the General Grabbers or the Pirelli AS 3?

Thanks in advance.

I have AS+3s for my summer set and get 2.4ish mpk doing my regular 80% highway 20% local road commute, 2022 Large quad R1T. They are 115 which works, but many shops baulk at them, and there are many 116 options now. If maximum range is your goal, I suggest go HTS60s in 276/60R20 and 116.

The one's who are getting worse efficiency are comparing them to the stock 21's (33" tire to 33" tire). If you replace your 34" Pirelli with the 33" Michelin, you will see a noticeable efficiency improvement.

Doh. That makes a ton of sense. Thank you!

I'm one of the general grabbers HTS60 20". Currently have about 12K miles on it. My first 6K miles is about 2.34 kwh. the last 6k is up to 2.40. Maybe because of the weather is much better in Texas at the moment. All of these miles are in all purpose mode. Only drawback for this tire is it doesn't last long. I'm at 6/32 with 12K miles on it. Howevever, it is inexpensive at low $200 a tire.

I'd consider the Goodyear Territory AT 275/60/20 as well. It has been efficient for me so far and that wasn't why I bought it. I posted my overall experience here with efficiency metrics. You can read the entire thread if seriously considering the tire or skip to post #209 where I did steady state 60 mph runs to test the efficiency for the thread that I've linked lower:
https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...5-60-20-factory-at-tires-saving.37522/page-14

And here:
https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/quad-mpk-poll-60-mph-and-60°f.39716/page-2

As always, YMMV. I just post what I've seen and the supporting info so you can make your own decisions.

That Hoodyear is the new Rivian OEM 20” AS. Curious if anyone has tried the HT version which in theory would be even more road friendly than the AT

There are two defender LTX models. The MS2 and Platinum. And people neglect to be clear on which. It’s the Platinum that did not return good efficiency numbers.

And I would add - you need to get 275/60/20 for 20” to get a lighter tire than the 275/65/20 which weighs more than the OEM.

I am aware that it is the new Rivian one. The AT was specifically made for the Rivian while the HT version wasn't. The AT has been very road friendly so far. It is a very good all around tire and so glad I got rid of both my Gen 1 20" AT and my Gen 1 21" all seasons for these.

I just need to confirm that in the next update I can update a Gen 1 R1S to essentially the 21” wheel to mimic the 33” vs 34” tire. (Or even better is just set it to 275/60/20!)

Yes but some details on how would be nice :). Service tech indicated it will be limited to wheels / tires Rivian sells not pick size. Hope it is not the later.

Don’t know - don’t own 22” so haven’t looked at those.
