Has anyone had a need for multiple charging windows?
Our electric company has two different 8 hour weekday off-peak charging windows that are allowed. 10AM-6PM and 9PM-5AM weekdays, and any time on weekends.
My wife works different shifts at the hospital so some days she needs daytime charging and others she will need night charging.
Our R1S will only allow me to set one "daily" or "weekday" window. I thought I might just set "daily" to one window and "weekday" to another window and toggle as needed, but changing one schedule also changes the other.
There is no option to add a second charging schedule.

Has anyone found a charger that allows multiple windows to charge? I can't be the only one who has multiple off peak charging windows that are allowed. Duke Energy Indiana is the provider. They provide $50 per quarter if you limit charging to off peak hours. They allow 2 peak charging sessions per quarter but if you do 3 or more you lose the credit for that quarter.

Not much help on the short term, but I know for our Tesla there are a few 3rd-party apps that leverage the Tesla APIs to run a custom schedule that's handled app-side (effectively force a "allow/disallow charge" command at the various times). Not sure if that's open on the Rivian side, but maybe down the road?

Also, greetings Hoosier. Grew up in Indy, now live in Denver.

Thanks for the detailed response. I've been emailing customer service with different charger brands to see if they are able to schedule multiple charging windows in their apps. So far Emporia is only one to confirm they can, but I'm still waiting on most of the others I've emailed.
Didn't think to look at 3rd party app options. Something else for me to look into.

In the meantime I'll just schedule for the window I think we'll use most often.

Just moved to Fishers 2021. Love it so far. I'm from Ohio and was living in IL for 8 years prior to IN. Colts fan and season ticket holder for a long time from a distance so moving to Indy was great. Hope Colorado treating you well.

I believe chargers that allow scheduling on charger side (Chargepoint and Wallbox are two that I know of) will allow you set up multiple times on the respective app.

I seem to recall there may have been some issues in the past if you let the charger control the schedule, not sure if that is still the case. My recollection is that the vehicle would eventually give up and go to sleep and then miss the charging window when it cam available on the charger. Hopefully this has been remedied.

This is (was?) true for my R1S. It stops charging fine but if I plug in outside of the charger‘s charge window the R1S would go red and not charge when the window opened unless I unplugged and plugged back in. The Tesla will just turn blue if plugged in and charge when the window opened.

I have not tested lately, when I get the new update I’ll test again. I only charge once a week usually so have just been plugging in after 9pm.

Yeah, based on some of the early reports, I've just always scheduled charging through the vehicle and have never bother to test for a fix. But wanted to make sure folks in this thread were aware in case the issue remains.

Good to know that the 3rd party charger scheduling workaround might not be a viable solution.

We have the same Launch green color and rims. Looks great. My wife loves the green interior too. She reminded me that I had a green Audi allroad with green interior when I met her. Wasn't too far off from the Rivian colors.

This is a frustration for sure. I believe you can get home chargers that you can set times you want to charge.

With my RAV4 Prime, I can set a "departure " time and it will calculate how long it will take to charge and start charging before the departure time. I don't know why it would be that difficult for Rivian (and other EV companies) to have that option since most people charge at home.

Rivian seems to concentrate their update and improvement efforts on the high speed charging matters. This forum and the Internet is aflame with these issues. Probably over 90% of EV charging takes place at home. Rivian needs to concentrate some efforts to improve the home charging issues like multiple charge sessions to take advantage of utility company incentives.

I have the same issue in Idaho. Off-peak is from 9a-5p and then again 8p-6a. Has anyone tried the NeoCharge app for this? I'm always dubious about third party apps...

The Emporia EV charger was able to accommodate two off-peak schedules. Ironically when I figured that out and set up my account with Duke Energy they said the multiple windows was mistakingly posted for IN and was for FL only. So I never ended up needing or using the multiple windows of off-peak charing. Emporia charger has been fine however. Cheaper than Rivian charger and also has app controls. And now the whole off-peak program is over for Duke so I only was able to use it for 3 or 4 quarters.

This whole charging process has me confused. It’s my understanding the charger is actually in the vehicle and what is commonly called the wall charger is a power delivery device. It’s my understanding the schedule is in the car and when it wakes up to execute its charge schedule it communicates with the wall unit to send its power. If a wall unit has th ability to store a schedule it would need to wake up the car to start accepting the power. It’s unclear if that is even possible. My R1s stopped charging on schedule and I believe it might have been because I was playing with the a while at my beach house and it then ties the schedule to that t location. It appears it is not possible for the car to maintain multiple schedules for multiple locations. .
