MYQ support has rolled out to Tesla hopefull we’ll see this coming to Rivian Probably one of the easier features go implement.

Why would we need myQ support? Rivian already has an RF transmitter capable of opening garage doors. The geofencing is a Tesla feature I'd like to see Rivian implement but that doesn't require myQ.

No they don't. The garage door opening hardware is an additional cost of $350 installed if I remember correctly. Outside of that there are no additional fees or costs to use it. Geo-fencing is built into the Software of eery Tesla.

I have MyQ and having the button on the Rivian it opens the door nearly 1/4mi away. I also can ask Alexa to open it. So not sure I need some additional integration.

Adding MyQ is easily the best new feature Tesla has ever added OTA.

The first big reason, for me at least is that the internet has much better range than homelink RF transmitter. With homelink, I often have to do a back-and-forth / turning dance to find a angle that works. With homelink I can activate it from a block away and the door is completely open by the time I get to it.

And if they do introduce geofencing, you will instantly discover the value of MyQ even if you don't have signal issues. How often do you get home and the garage door was already open, either because somebody else got home first, or because stupid transmitter failed to close it when you left? With homelink the open and close signals are the same. So if your garage door is already open, when you get home and pull into your driveway, homelink automatically triggers and the door closes.

MyQ has separate open and close signals, so it will never accidentally close the garage when you wanted it to open.

How did you get the MyQ button on your Rivian?
And how did you program Alexa to open your garage with the Rivian?

Need some help on this oldish thread. Both @OGLindy and @VSG have said that they can control the MyQ garage door through Alexa. Neither I nor @macwinpro have been able to make this work.

Asking again if someone can post the steps used to make this happen.

Another option I use, get homebridge, convert the MyQ to homelink compatible, and I just ask Siri to open garage door, works great.

Well... Apparently SimpleCommands doesn't work with the Android 12. Went to PlayStore and got the following message: "This app isn't available for your device because it was made for an older version of Android"

I thought I'd check out IFTTT. There's an applet "Tell Alexa to Close Garage via MyQ for LiftMaster"
but a note says you can't open the garage door:

" Unfortunately you can't open the garage due to restrictions by LiftMaster (they only let you close, but not open!)."

I really don't care that much about closing the garage door since either I'm in the garage or in the alley. What I really need is a hands-free way to open the garage from the street.

I have Alexa working to control MyQ. I simply ask Alexa to Open or to Close the garage door and it works perfectly from anywhere I have internet.

1. You must have the myQ hardware (I found it be really cheap).
2. Connect MyQ to Alexa: This is the BEST, FREE method (thesmartcave.com)
