I hope they can beat it. The way he was talking made it sound like a low estimate, I think the street read it like that and even if they make it, they would get dinged. Fingers crossed they can get north of 27500, they would beat it by 10% but not look like sandbagging.25,000 would be an impressive feat in this environment. Fingers crossed they can hit it.
I did the same. Took delivery of mine last November.I read this in the q4 report and immediately pulled the trigger on the polestar 2 that I had a deposit down on. At least this way I will have a lil EV to bang around in while I wait for later this year, next year, or whenever?
I believe they announced they had 45,000 preorders by September 30. I was around September 21. It was a heady time with lots of good reviews coming out. So I’ve taken a guess that I’m probably at 40,000 or so. There may have been a second data point but I’ve forgotten what it was.How did you come up with your reservation number?
With the current pricing, think it is a no brainer to get the adventure package and you will get it sooner too. Would add value when you sell it in a few years.Even though I have a very early order date, I have an estimated delivery date of the first half of 2023. This is because I opted for the Explore Package. I guess that I will just have to see how it goes. I hope that by the time that we get our truck, all of the early production bug will be worked out.

I thought the same thing, I mean whatever leverage they have or don't have, RJ, multiple times, addressed any suppliers that "might be on the call" basically saying "you're fucking us, and we're not going to let up on you" - things like that lead me to believe they're probably not stretching the truth very much that just a handful of suppliers are holding them back from moving much more quickly.I found the comments about the chip vendors particularly the direct comments I.e. “if any of our chip providers are on this call….” to be very interesting, not that he has much leverage to threaten them, but it was interesting to see him all but flog them on an earnings call.
Makes you wonder how bad things have to get, before auto manufacturers say enough is enough, form some sort of co-opt and build a domestic foundry to supply themselves.
If it’s locking up 25,000 units @$90,000 that’s about $2.2 billion in product. I know it’s immensely hard to build a chip foundry and not their area of expertise, but crazier things have happened.
I work in Logistics and Supply Chain, the delay is inevitable given the supply chain issues around the world, I understand what Rivian is facing. I am late reservation, not expecting to get my R1S until early/mid 24'. I made a reservation for a Model Y and a Mustang Mach e GT, gonna pull the trigger on which ever comes early. Think MY in August, trade it in when my R1S comes in. How do you like the Polestar 2? did not think of this, am not a big Sedan guy.I read this in the q4 report and immediately pulled the trigger on the polestar 2 that I had a deposit down on.
