***Update*** Rivian SC crew (these guys have been awesome at the Reno/Sparks SC!) ran diagnostics remotely and given the time stamp from the video, they found it pretty quickly. The truck issued an “anti-pinch” command and rolled the window down. So they know “what” happened, but not “why”. Mobile Service truck is coming this week to troubleshoot, open the door panel, look for any folded molding or intrusions that would have caused a “pinch” condition and triggered anti-pinch (as well as look for water intrusion from the rain if it’s there). As another pointed out, I noticed the glow that looks like it’s coming from the screen of the truck and they are looking in to that as well. The truck was plugged in to my charger all night, so it may not have been sleeping after the charge completed, or was at least sleeping restlessly. So, partial resolution so far with a diagnosis of what happened and we’re now on to why it happened in the middle of the night with the window already fully closed for multiple hours—so what just up and caused it to sense a “pinch”?

More to come as I find out more…

Sounds like a software glitch. I'm taking an educated guess that "anti-pinch" command would be raised when a window is already in motion and the motor current increases unexpectedly, indicating the window is blocked, hence "anti-pinch". But obviously, your window was not really in motion by anyone's control to begin with, so why did it raise the "anti-pinch" alert?

Please keep us updated with anything you find out! Inquiring minds want to know!!

My first thought is a malfunctioning window switch....but...the window switch isn't even functional when the truck is off right? wait...how on earth does the anti-pinch get activated when the window is all the way up?

Might want to run the window calibration?

Wouldn’t it be awesome if the windshield rain sensors detected rain, it would trigger closing all windows if vehicle is parked for an extended duration at a known location/ home/garage/work. But make it an optional feature.

Agree completely…this is the real question…. I’ll post updates as I get them.

This is an awesome idea.

I've had my windows vent without any user input. From my desk at work, I can see my car. My phone is put away and I'm not using it. Randomly I'll look at the car through the window and the windows are vented and the doors unlocked. It is far away enough that proximity unlocking doesn't work. It never bothered me much but it just happened 10 min ago and it was pouring rain outside. I have no idea how long it was open for before I noticed it. And yes, I did provide feedback to Rivian via the app.

Welp... it happened to me today. Was parked at the RAN in Las Vegas right by the famous sign. Was charging from 21 percent to 95 percent in anticipation of my early departure back home. With 30 minutes left of charging, we got out and walked to the Old Navy to use the restroom. It was 95 degrees outside if it matters. When we got back with 10 minutes left, the right rear window was 7/8 of the way down.. Basically down. Neither of us were seated in the back and I know for sure it was up when we left the car. Ghosts are weird!!

They really need to figure this out. This is a security issue for sure, and in the right weather (or wrong weather...) it will be an insurance claim that goes back to Rivian to have to pay or fight. Anti-pinch is great, but this is easily fixable with software guardrails.
