I'd gladly carry a portable battery charger (not a gas generator - I'm not into irony) but don't seem to see anything out there specifically designed for this purpose. Anyone know of a solution out there that that might be able to supply an emergency charge to get at least a few miles of range that could be kept charged and carried in the back of an R1S (even better it it could fit in the frunk)?

I carry a Tesla mobile EVSE with the NEMA kit. Plug into any outlet anywhere.

Bars, gas stations, hotels & friends houses... There are outlets everywhere.

have you considered towing a rivian behind your rivian

in all seriousness, if you're looking for off grid generation solutions, solar is your best bet. Any battery you lug around in the vehicle is either going to be too small to benefit you, or be so large and heavy it dramatically reduces range.

There are a few options out there which advertise to the point of "You can even charge your EV!" but in reality, you cannot. One of those units can maybe give you another 2-3 miles in the best case scenario. And the unit is probably 50-80lbs.

Even an entire Tesla wall battery is what? 10-15kW? That's not even designed to be carried around in a vehicle and that would get you at best, 10% charge.

And solar.....you could leave it in the direct sunlight for days and you'd probably break even with the parasitic losses haha.

Saw a video of a guy with an ecoflow(?) battery charging a stranded bmw - gave them 2 mikes in half an hour. It’s gotta be the next big thing for innovation - portable charging that doesn’t require a gas generator!

That’s miles, not mikes.

Looking at their site, the biggest most expensive one is starting at $3000. It has a 3.6 to 25kWh capacity.

So starting at $3000 you get not even 3% charge of your Rivian.

To get another 3% charge, you need another one of the batteries stacked for $2K more. To get the full 24kWh, it will cost you about $13000 or so. Worth it? :p

In addition to emergencies on the road - I think for city folks whose car is parked for days at a time with no access to a home charger - the ability to have a portable battery at home, plugged in and fulling charged so that it can be wheeled to their parked car and even if just pumping a few miles of life into the car would be worthwhile. Even better if it could sit in the frunk and charge 'internally' otherwise you have to stay with the car while it's mobile charger is outside plugged in. Cold weather is showing that if you have to sit in the car while it's charging, your heat will offset the power you'd add.

You mean the cable? I mean a power source - just a cable doesn't help if you're parked on a city street - no one is offering you their outlets, or stranded on a highway.
