"we know there's a bulkhead that ends up installed into the gear tunnel area to accommodate v2"
...
... Zach Nelson (aka Jerryrigeverything) had his tonneau replaced and video'd it. It didn't appear to take too long...
Can you provide any official information on the "bulkhead that ends up installed into the gear tunnel"... I have no awareness of that. And is that related to the 3rd version of the PTC (aka V2)?
And to be clear, the referenced video that "didn't appear to take too long" was swapping the V1 PTC for the V1.5 PTC, although granted it is probably a similar process swapping in the V2 cassette.

I'm not well versed in what delta there'd be between the v1 and v2 (we know there's a bulkhead that ends up installed into the gear tunnel area to accommodate v2--but what it entails to get it in there, I am unaware of).
That said, I wouldn't worry as much about the timeline, all other things being equal. Zach Nelson (aka Jerryrigeverything) had his tonneau replaced and video'd it. It didn't appear to take too long:
I talked with Rivian service again today. This guy wasn't sure if it would be the V1.5 or the new one (which he was calling V3). I asked him if it would be done the same day. He said it could be two to three days. Same thing they told me last year. He offered an Enterprise rental, but I won't do business with Enterprise under any circumstance. So we have rescheduled for late April, and he will make a note to have an R1T (with PTC) for me as a loaner.
As I think I said previously, I went through this last year, upgrading from V1 to V1.5. Initially they said it could take two to three days. Eventually, they had me bring it in on a Saturday, and they completed it in 3 to 4 hours.

So you're having a second ptc replacement after the V1.5 done last year? Presumably that one failed within a year? The V1.5(?) on my Gen 2 Tri-Max sounds real crunchy, I'm wondering how long it's going to last...

I’m scheduled on April 18th to get my missing power tonneau cover installed in Denver. They told me to expect 3 hours. They say I’m getting the latest V1 design and that the new roller V2 is not an option at this time.

I don't have any 'official' information, but check this photo:

The physical space in the gear tunnel didn't change.

The physical space in the tonneau socket the V1, V1.5, V2, V3, V6, I6, V8, whatever the hell you want to call it, didn't change.

For the record, I never said it wouldn't FIT, I doubted it would be retrofitted. Between potential wiring harness changes and bracket differences, I didn't think they'd turn OG PTC into the new Rollup Slats.

For the record, I didn't suggest any of the above. (Change in space/accessibility/compatbility, etc)

My only point was that: insofar as the current tonneau does not seem to ingress into that area whatsoever, it'd have a different installation profile. Ergo, there might be an expectation that there's a *slightly different amount of work required* to install the v2 versus its predecessors.
Period. End of point.

Yeah, I saw that pic before my delivery which is part of what raised my initial questions. Below is a pic taken from the same perspective (and some added lighting) of my delivered G2 with V2 PTC. Hope this adds some clarity for all.

Yeah, the upgrade (V1.5) PTC lasted from about April last year until January of this year. It always sounded a little rough, but never failed to open or close until it wedged a slat at an angle in January, and a piece of plastic (guide?) broke off. I don't use it unnecessarily, but since I do load my bed up with tools, cases, and boxes, I do need to access it on a regular basis (maybe not daily, but frequently).

Unless, for some reason, it would be extremely difficult to upgrade, it would make sense to do so. Rivian has a lot of these under warranty. If the latest iteration is substantially more robust, it will likely save them a good deal of money, over time. Not to mention improvement in customer goodwill. And they can quit stocking parts for the old style.

I dropped my truck off this morning for the PTC replacement and they said it could take 2-4 days to complete.

Timing worked well as I am going out of town tomorrow till Monday so I hope it is ready for me when I get back.

I will post an update once I pick it up.

They quoted me three days. It was done in less than a day and I had to ask them to wait an extra day for me to pick it up because I wasn't available earlier.
