I've been pretty meticulous about cleaning the interior and exterior of my R1S. But I seem to have neglected the transition between the two.

This winter, dirt/sand/salt accumulated on the rubber door seal. And each time I opened or closed the door the dirty rubber seal was sandpapering away my paint!

I used the touch-up pen on it. It is better, but I still can't not see it every time I open the door now. I also worry that the scratches will compromise the waterproofness if I were to ever test that 3+ft wading depth.

Any suggestions for a product that will hide the cosmetic damage and restore/improve the waterproofing. I worry that the now textured surface isn't a good fit for PPF.

I'm not sure how you were getting scratches here unless your seals aren't in the right position. My tailgate looks a lot like this under the plastic top trim though.

Why are you reusing rubbers?!?

Joking aside, I haven’t really noticed that issue with mine. But, I already have PPF installed and live in SoCal where my truck doesn’t get that dirty often.

Yeah, I was going to say that I try hard to soil mine, but I digress….

I put some of those TWraps door sill PPF on mine within a few days of getting the truck. My boots destroy pretty much everything, but the TWraps seem to still be holding up well. Only wish was that they were a little longer (they don't cover the full length of the sills). Maybe worth checking for yours though?

My tint guy threw some PPF on there for no charge when I asked. It is holding up so far vs the dog paws. Plan B for me is definitely the 3M DIY rubber roll for $5 a door at Amazon. That will cover your scratches as well.

Wow, did your CY touch up pen actually match? I had Rivian send me two & neither one of them matched, I had to go aftermarket.
