Where is this clear market demand? How many gas range extenders are on the market right now? I'm pretty sure the only ones ever sold were the Karma Revero ne Fisker Karma, the BMW i3, and the Chevy Volt. We know the story of the Karma and the i3 and Volt are no longer made...

You don't need a gas range extender in a small or sporty car, but we are talking about proper midsize Trucks/SUVs with great offroad and towing capabilities here... There is currently no better tech available (also not in the pipeline) that enables affordable range extension with short "charging" times.
Clearly, the gas range extender should just be an option and doesn't appeal to every Rivian owner.. But if you ever tried towing and charing with a trailer, you'll know that for some Rivian owners the gas range extender would be a game changer

1. Let’s see what happens when 2028 rolls around and Scout finally ships

2. Even so, great for consumers. They can buy it if they need it, which is still powered by Rivian architecture. Meanwhile, Rivian focuses on what they do best. Rivian doesn’t need a product in every segment

I get it that some new members might not know as much about the company and its products as the veterans here.

Rivian's environmental vision don't seem to align with equipping their vehicles with fossil fuel engines even as a range extender. You'll have to look elsewhere for that combo.

You clearly do not understand the philosophy of this company, I'm guessing you are under the impression they will have Car Play some day too.
The philosophy of any public traded company is to make money! DUH.
they are already developing software for SCOUT range extender. 🙄

Deliveries are still YEARS away. Pricing and features will change.

And all Rivian customers would pay for it in some way since the factory would need to be built out to manufacture EVs and also ICE hybrids. It's hard enough to produce R1s and EDVs. Now you want them to add ICE engines and the crap that comes with it?

I'm glad Rivian partnered with Scout the way they did, but I hope they never add their own hybrids. It's the worst of both worlds.

Yeah, actually as a consumer, I'm glad that Scout will offer this combo I'm looking for. Even better that they'll include a lot of proven Rivian tech :)
As an investor however, I assume that Rivian itself can and would pivot with market demand and competitor landscape.

This is not a hybrid or ICE vehicle: No transmission, drivetrain and all of that. Just a generator unit that runs when you need it..

Yup, that's part of it and they just posted gross profit last quarter. They are on their way, remember it's still early for them as a publicly traded company, R2 is make or break for them.

A generator that runs on pixie dust? Or runs on gas? You are acting like this is just like throwing a Honda generator in the bed of your truck

80% of.... How many? 600 according to your source... 486 people surely is a sizeable demand... 😂

And how many (none) have been converted?

So you're saying the only way Rivan can be profitable is to offer an ICE range extender?!?

Just a reminder that this is not as simple as some are implying. The Ramcharger includes a full Pentastar V6 under the hood.

POWER MEETS RANGE

The All-New Ram 1500 Ramcharger delivers innovative performance with a liquid-cooled 92-kilowatt-hour battery pack paired with a 130-kilowatt generator. The 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine generates mechanical power, which is converted to electrical power by the onboard generator for maximum efficiency. The generator can also increase the power to the motor and gearbox when serious power is needed.
