I was planning on ordering one, but the website has said they’re out of stock with a 1-3 week wait time for like three months now.

They are probably built to order, hence the wait.

Well, that doesn't seem good. I assumed you tried emailing them directly.

I haven’t, just because it hasn’t been a priority, and I was already planning to wait until I’d be close enough to go pick it up rather than have it shipped. I will be in a few weeks, so I guess I should get on that…

I was in contact with them end of February and they were dealing with a series of unfortunate setbacks. Perhaps they’ll give an update here before too long…

That is sorry to hear. It seemed like a good option even though I ended up going with a group buy for another topper here as I need more space in the back than the Wakeshield would give me.

I am still considering this topper because it gives more covered room than the tonneau and actually increases highway range, which is a big deal for me. So I hope we get an update regarding availability.

The topper from a group buy has reached someone. Might have some data regarding any efficiency improvement over the next few weeks. I ordered one as well and plan to put it on as soon as I get it. I was seriously considering the Waskeshield but wanted more enclosed space than it offered. I realize there are always tradeoffs.

I am following that thread also, but that topper is going to reduce range, not increase it. The hit might not be big at slow speeds, but at 80 mph I think it will be easily measurable.

The reason Wakeshield improves range is the shape that reduces air turbulence over the bed. It sort of mimics the highly efficient shape of other vehicles like the Model Y.

I've done a ton of efficiency testing with my truck, so I'll be able to quickly quantify the impact, good or bad. I also plan to seal the gap between the cab and topper as much as I can and maybe do some wind tuft testing to see if there is any place it is really bad and I need to smooth it out.

Efficiency sucks at 80 mph with this truck so whether I get 250 miles or 230 miles, honestly isn't going to make a practical difference for me on most trips. If I need a bit more range on a trip, I can just slow down a bit.

Even if I take a slight hit, the extra enclosed area will be more useful for me and I plan to mount my RTT on top.

I get everyone has different needs though.

It could be a 10% improvement at 80 mph. It isn't likely to be that high at 60 mph, though.

With my Tri in Conserve and the height at the lowest setting, I can get 2.5 mi/kWh pretty consistently at 75-80 mph. That is 353 miles of range. A 30 mile improvement puts it at 383, which is really awesome. Not many BEVs get that kind of highway range.
